How I Play My Level 130 Wizard
How I play my level 130 EverQuest Wizard: a one-button multibox nuker built fire-heavy to keep the Mage synergy firing. Covers the full spell lineup, the single-key rotation, both burn phases, Mana Burn, AA priorities, and gear at 130.
The level 130 Wizard is the simplest class I play and the hardest hitter in my group. It runs on a single button: everything fires on cooldown, the bar is tilted fire-heavy on purpose to keep the Mage synergy triggering, and there is zero defense because a Wizard that gets hit is already dead. This is the current one-button setup (a level 135 "all tab" version is coming later).
Session Overview
How the Wizard is wired at 130.
- Role: pure burst nuker. On parses he does the most damage of anyone in the group, more still with the Bard's assist up and during burns.
- Playstyle: one button. Spam a single key and every nuke, AA, pet, and clicky fires on cooldown. It is built hands-free for boxing.
- Why fire-heavy: he groups with a Mage, so a fire-tilted bar keeps both characters' synergies triggering constantly. Solo, you would lean the bar toward ice instead.
- Defense: none. A Wizard that takes a hit is dead regardless of AAs, so every point goes offensive.
- Ceiling: at 52,000 AAs he is nowhere near maxed, so there is a lot of DPS still on the table.
Spell Lineup
What is memorized and what each slot does.
- Twincast: sits at the top of the bar and rides in the rotation. Doubles the spells cast under it.
- Chromospheric Vortex (synergy): the "Evoke Your Synergy" spell, triggered by the Ice Vortex and Mana Vortex lines. It gives a 100% chance for your next non-fire direct damage spell to trigger the synergy, adding 150,000 damage. No upgrade exists yet (checked Scarred Grove and Outer Brood).
- Ethereal Ice: the ice nuke that consumes and triggers the synergy. 5-second recast, second or third in the rotation. The whole plan is built around triggering this as often as possible.
- Thrice-Woven Effluence: 61,000 nuke. 25% chance to buff future spells, 1% chance to weaken them. Can also trigger the synergy.
- Current-level stun nuke: 54,000 damage with a listed 8-second stun to level 130, near-instant cast, 18-second reuse. Fits nicely in the multibind and can trigger the synergy.
- Ethereal Weave: a 206,000 "buff nuke." Casts faster but costs more mana, adds a 35% chance for extra magic damage (with a 4% risk of eating the mana for nothing), and procs Blaze of Fire. 36-second recast, and it crits huge (3M and up, into 5M with an Arcane Fusion crit).
- Ethereal Fire: the current filler nuke.
- Chaos Flames: a gamble nuke, 53,000 to 146,000 base, crits into the millions.
- Reciprocal Fire: the Outer Brood progressive line, roughly 203,000 damage plus a hate reduction. It upgrades next expansion, and the May patch buffs the progressive lines. Crits around 1.9M.
- Scales of the Crystal Wing: the current rune plus mana regen. A 615,000 rune, good for maybe one hit.
- Harvest: 100,000 mana return.
- Throwaway slots: a Port (last parked in Scarred Grove) and Self-Ignition, an AoE he does not use but that you could work into your own rotation.
The Rotation
One key, everything on cooldown.
- Hate Jolt: drops hate instantly.
- Chromospheric Vortex: arms the synergy.
- Ethereal Ice: consumes the synergy.
- Twincast: kept second as insurance; it could go first, but this way you still land it if the first press slips.
- Reciprocal Fire: the big progressive hit.
- Ethereal Weave, stun nuke, Thrice-Woven, Chaos Flames, Ethereal Fire: the rest of the nuke chain, woven so ice and fire alternate and the synergy keeps firing.
Group note: the Mage in the box runs the mirror of this, dropping a magic nuke in his rotation to trigger the shared synergy. That is the whole reason the bar leans fire.
On the Button: AA Nukes and Pets
Bound to the same key.
- Force of Ice / Force of Will / Force of Flames: instant AA nukes, about 33,000 to 35,000 each at his current AAs.
- Call of Zomm (swarm pet): the current-level swarm-pet sword, a little extra damage.
- Aureate's Bane: an Outer Brood progressive AA, fired on the same press.
- Druzil's Harvest and Harvest: ride the rotation for hands-free mana.
Solo warning: do not put Druzil's Harvest and Harvest in your rotation if you are not boxing. Cast the mana returns manually when you actually need them.
Burn Phase 1 (Button 7)
Crit and damage multipliers.
- Silent Casting: drops aggro on everything cast during it.
- Frenzied Devastation: +51% crit chance on direct damage spells (it does raise their mana cost).
- Fury of the Gods: +10,000 base damage to your spells.
- Ward of Destruction: an AoE ward. Careful, it can pull aggro and get you killed if your tank is weak.
- Spire of the Arcanium: more crit damage and crit chance.
Burn Phase 2 (Button 8)
The big multipliers and a reset.
- Forceful Rejuvenation: resets everything on a timer.
- Breastplate click: replenishes mana (the tier two piece clicks 18,000 mana every 6 seconds).
- Arcane Fury: +70% direct damage.
- Arcane Destruction: +60% crit chance and absorbs incoming damage as mana.
- Improved Twincast: twincast every spell.
Mana Burn (Button 9)
The third burn key.
- Mind Crash then Arcane Whisper: cast these first to shed the aggro Mana Burn generates.
- Mana Burn: around 4.2M and it can crit. He has hit 10M-plus, and others go higher.
- Burn cadence: spam 7 five times, 8 five times, 9 five times so every character fires its full stack while you Mana Burn through it.
Perspective: against billion-HP raid mobs 4M is small, but it stacks on top of everything and usually starts the Wizard at the top of the parse.
AAs and Gear at 130
All offense, tier two by default.
AAs
- Go all offense: he runs zero defensive AA. A Wizard that gets hit dies anyway, so there is no reason to spend there.
- Still climbing: at 52,000 AAs he is not maxed, and finishing the offensive lines is where the next DPS comes from.
Gear
- Currently wearing: Gallant (Laurion's Song tier one) plus Tower gear, with a few unupgraded tier two pieces (staff, shoulders, earring).
- Where he lands most characters: Divine Schism, tier two. It is Lore (one piece each) but easy to get, and the breastplate fuels the burn with its 18,000-mana click.
- Best in slot: tier three crafted (Shattering of Ro). He saves the crafted armor for tanks rather than the Wizard.
- Upside: moving to current-level gear alone would take him from ~1.6M to about 2.2 to 2.5M DPS, no other changes.
The One-Button Loop
- Engage: spam the rotation key. Hate Jolt keeps hate down while the nuke chain rolls.
- Keep the synergy alive: Chromospheric Vortex arms it, Ethereal Ice consumes it, and the rest of the bar is woven to keep it firing.
- Burn 1: hit 7 five times (Silent Casting, Frenzied Devastation, Fury of the Gods, Ward of Destruction, Spire).
- Burn 2: hit 8 five times (Forceful Rejuvenation, breastplate click, Arcane Fury, Arcane Destruction, Improved Twincast).
- Mana Burn: Mind Crash and Arcane Whisper to drop aggro, then hit 9 for a multi-million-damage spike.
- Boxing vs solo: keep Druzil's Harvest and Harvest in the loop when boxing; pull them out and cast mana returns by hand when solo.

Hello and welcome to how I play my 130 wizard. So today we’re going to talk about the wizard. It’s a very simple simple class. I have it set up a very specific way for the way I play. Uh so we’re going to go over the spells, the rotation, and uh we’ll talk about a few other things here and uh whatnot. So let’s go ahead and jump right into it. First spell, obviously twin cast cuz I like it at the top. Uh easy to hit, but uh it’s in the rotation. Uh let’s see, one, two, third, fourth button, so it is what it is. And then we have chromospheric vortex. Now, I literally just went around the whole the world looking for an upgrade to this spell, and I cannot find one. Now, this is our synergy spell. Uh evoke your synergy. The ice vortex or mana vortex’s lines will trigger this. Now, I don’t know why there is no upgrade. It looks like when I’m going through here, I see like, you know, every five levels, but uh I’m not seeing it. Maybe next expansion I’ll get an upgrade to it. I don’t know. Uh it it maybe I missed the spell, but I I checked Scar Grove, I checked uh the outer brood. I did not see anything. So I I’m at a loss, but it’s our synergy spell. Now, what it does is it gives us a uh 100% chance to get a one non-fire direct damage to trigger that, which adds 150,000 damage to that. Now, if you look at my bar, I’m running a lot of fire. And uh uh there’s a reason for that because I group with a mage, but uh something to consider there. Um you know, you could switch this to ice nukes if you wanted to, but uh I am doing that. So this does this the a damage raise. It’s is big, you know, big damage, right? Let’s just cast it. And then it’s going to give us that synergy. Right there. Which then our next non-fire spell, which I have the ice nuke right here, ethereal ice. Right there, cast. And apparently there my spell damage isn’t going to that window. Here we go. And so I have it kind of set up like that. Just it it works for me. Uh your mileage will vary, obviously. Then we have uh thrice-woven effluence. Uh this is a 61,000 damage nuke. Uh 25% chance to uh increase future spells. 1% chance to weaken future spells. So a little gamble in there. Nothing wrong with that. Uh teleca tele aca uh x i x. This is a current level stun. Uh does a 8-second stun it says. I have never seen that, but uh it says 8 seconds for up to 130. 54,000 damage. Uh it’s near instant cast. It’s not instant, but it’s near instant. You can see there, boom. And it’s an 18-second reuse, so I thought that was nice in my multi-bind rotation. Now, we have ethereal weave here. This is the next spell. This is a uh This is kind of a buff. It’s a buff nuke, right? It it’s a lot of the stuff kind of that. So it’s a 206,000 damage nuke, right? Let’s go ahead and just cast it. Boom. Uh what that do? 3.3 million. So 3 million damage, right? And then it gives a chance to uh uh on your faster, but okay. So it it’ll cast faster, but it costs more mana, right? So that’s, you know, more mana right there. Uh it adds additional 35% chance to a random material damage with a 4% risk of the mana being taken without dealing any damage, right? So, a little gamble, right? And then I believe that’s the blaze of fire. Uh the proc that got added onto there, but it is it is got a nice little recast of 36 seconds, so it’s not too bad. I already got a five 5 million. A 5 million lucky crit from arcane fusion which just does a lot of extra damage. So, you can see there. I mean, 6 million DPS from two nukes. And then we have ethereal fire itself. Uh just in case we want to get that one in there. I don’t know if that one’s actually in the rotation right now. Yeah, it’s it’s the filler spell I’m using right now. Then we have chaos flames which will do anywhere from 53,000 to 146 46,000, right? So, it’s another one of those gambling spells, right? This is kind of the way I’m playing this, right? You can see there 2 million 5 million. It’s insane amounts of damage. Uh then we have reciprocal fire which is our outer brood. Uh progressive ability we’ll get a new one of these in uh the next expansion. Uh but uh so it’ll uh lower our hatred do 230 uh 203 damage thousand damage and uh some lower hatred, right? Now, uh I’m I’m making this video in May. In the May patch, they are buffing the reciprocal line and all of these progressive lines, so they might be stronger in the future than what I’m saying right now. Uh but what do we get here? 1. 1.9 million, I think. Any commas in there? Yeah, 1.9 million. Not too bad. Uh then we have ethereal ice. Now, ethereal Ice is my second, third spell in my rotation. And that’s for triggering my own synergy. So, uh now, I think Thrice Woven might trigger it and Teladoka might trigger it. So, it just depends on what happens. Uh but, uh that is kind of like the the goal there is to trigger that. Now, Ethereal Ice has, you know, a re- a recast time of 5 seconds. So, my goal is to trigger all these as much as possible. So, we’ll see how that, you know, ends up. And then we have Scales of the Crystal Wing, which is our current level rune mana regen. So, you want to have that. 615,000 point rune. So, you like you can get hit once. Yeah, maybe once. Uh and then we have Harvest. 100,000 mana return. Uh then I have these These are just pretty much throwaway spots. Uh port, I was in uh Scar Grove the last I played this character. So, that’s where I ported to and Self-Ignition is an AoE. Uh don’t really use it at all because it just doesn’t work with the way I play, but uh you you might be able to work it into your rotations. Now, with that, uh we’ll talk about the rotation. So, we have Concussion, uh Concussion AoE, right? So, this is going to lower our aggro. Then we have Vortex, which triggers our synergy. Then we have Ethereal Ice, which will consume our synergy, right? Now, my mage is in my group. He is doing the same thing. Uh well, I don’t think there’s a mage in the group right now, but when there’s a mage in the group, uh he’s doing a magic nuke in his rotation to trigger that. So, then we have Twin Cast, right? Now, arguably we could put Twin Twin Twin Cast first, but I have it second just in case I don’t get to that. Uh then we have Reciprocal Fire for that big damage, then we have ethereal weave, Taldarqa, uh thrice woven, chaos flame, and ethereal fire. So, that’s the rotation there. Uh looks like like I I switch I move characters around. It looks like it I just noticed this hotkey is not triggering on that one of five. There we go. I don’t know why it’s not saving. I don’t know why it’s not saving my uh buttons, but uh there we go. And then we have force of ice, force of will, and force of flames, which are all about 33 to 35,000 with my current AAs, uh instant AAs, AA nukes, and then we have uh call of Zo’zal, which is our current level swarm pet sword uh that will come out and do a little damage. Not a lot, but some. Then we have Aria’s Bane, which is uh just a clicky from uh the outer brood expansion. Now, because of the way I play this guy as a multi box character uh for the most part, he has uh Druzil Druzil’s Harvest and Harvest as his rotation. Now, you do not want these in your rotation if you’re not multi boxing, in my opinion. Uh you’re going to want to manually do these when you need them. Uh but otherwise, this this makes it more hands-free for me. I play this character with one one button. Uh just spamming it over and over again, so all these things get activated on cool down. Uh and that’s how it that’s how it flows, right? So, that’s just you know, just how I do it. It works for me. Uh we’ll be changing up here soon. We’ll be doing all tab and stuff. And uh the 135 video will be me doing all tab, so um you’ll see that in the future. But, uh that is how I do it now. Now, uh let’s just do a quick I’m getting some serious lag, so I don’t know hopefully this works out. Uh let’s do some rotation here. So, I’m just going to spam five. See if I can get that. There we go. We got the DPS monitor on. Get him spamming. All right. Everything and we don’t have a auto rod with signal fire. Boom. Tier ice. Tier Eve so, it’s it’s kind of like intertwined between ice and everything else, right? And you can tweak that as much as you want. Um but uh that’s just how I I got it to trigger the way I wanted. I have I could optimize it out but uh I haven’t really put any effort into it to change it up in much much real fashion, right? Like it’s it seems to be working for me the way I like it. Um DPS wise he does the most damage in all my characters in my group. Uh now he gets better damage when he’s got when I got like the bard’s assist and all that stuff going, right? And then when I burn. But he’s he’s missing a lot of AAs, right? He’s only at 52,000 AAs, so he’s not near max. So, there’s a lot of optimization I can continue to do and get him more damage. Right? So, I mean I’m getting 1.6 million on the the car target dummy with what am I wearing here? Gallant. So, Lorien’s song tier one gear. Uh and the uh uh tower gear. I do have a tier two uh staff, shoulders, and earring. Uh but I I have not upgraded the tier two. So, that that’s I I would I would assume just upgrading my gear to current level gear would put me at about 2.2 to 2.5 million DPS just spamming the way I am right now. Um without any other thought to it. So, keep that in mind. There’s, you know, some big nukes coming out, right? Uh but, let’s see here. Other than that, that is that is literally everything. Like this is this is one of the more simple classes. I guess we could talk about the burn real quick. Let me do that. Uh the burn. So, silent casting right here. So, it lowers our aggro. Frenzied uh devastation. This uh What is this? Uh increases the mana of 55 direct damage spells. Uh increases the chance they will deal critical damage by 51%. So, 51% extra crit chance. And then we have fury of the gods. Uh which uh increases the base damage uh of all the spells by 10,000. And then ward of destruction, which is an AoE ward. Now, be careful on this one because sometimes you can you throw this one out there, you die because you’re going to pull aggro. But, uh if your tank isn’t terrible like mine, uh then you’ll be fine. Uh spire of the arcanium. Just more crit damage and crit chance there. Now, we go into burn two. Uh forceful rejuvenation. So, it resets anything that has a timer. Uh use our breastplate, which let’s inspect that. Our breastplate currently uh replenishes mana when we click it, I believe. Yeah. Looks like it replenishes mana when we click it. All right. So, that’s nice. And then uh arcane fury, which uh increases the damage of our direct damage spells by 70%. And then arcane destruction, which uh let’s see here. Da da da da da da. Chance to deal critical chance by 60% and absorb incoming damage. Uh as mana, right? And then improve twin cast so we can twin cast all our spells. All right, so pretty nice. Now, I’d be in remiss in saying I don’t have a I don’t have a I don’t have a third button here. Mana burn. Now, mana burn is interesting. Um I do mind crash to lower my aggro and then I do arcane whisper right afterwards to lower my aggro. Uh but it says here for uh what is that? 4.2 million damage and I believe it can crit because I’ve I’ve gotten 10 million uh 10 million uh mana burns and I’ve seen other people get much higher mana burns. So, uh definitely definitely a nice spell. I mean, obviously, when you’re fighting mobs with billions of hit points, 4 million is not really that much, right? It’s like a rounding error on a monk’s swing of a of stick, right? Uh so, it is what it is. I like to do it on uh you know, pretty much everything I burn on. I do I spam seven five times. I spam eight five times and then I spam nine uh five times for all my characters to make sure they all activate all their stuff and during that, I’m mana burning. So, it’s it’s nice extra damage. Definitely puts him at the top on on burns most of the time cuz he’s just starts that from much further ahead. But uh for the most part, that’s it. There’s like not much to this class. Now, AA wise, you’re going to you’re going to want to just go get all the all the offensive stuff. I like I don’t have anything in this. Like, if I get hit, I’m dead. Doesn’t matter if I have all my AAs or not. I’m dead if I get it. Truthfully told. Like, if if I pull aggro, I’m going going just absolutely stopped before I can cast terror with my shadow right, whatever character I’m using right. Uh it is just that’s the that’s the game of the beast right and you’re just going to want to uh make sure you have uh have everything going the way you want it. Uh for the most part and uh should should get you set. I’m just trying to think of anything I’m missing right. Uh gear wise I guess that’s the thing right. So the best gear is tier three crafted shattering row. I don’t have any of that. It comes from uh these pieces right here unraveling chest armor. I’m not going to waste it on a wizard. I’m going to go for this one here whenever I whenever I try to put some effort into working on its curious back. Uh divine schism is tier two. Uh that is where I go for most of my characters is the tier two. Uh and I save the crafted stuff for my tanks. Now if you really you know you got extras you know you’re going to want to hook up all your characters but uh definitely a little different like in this one’s clicky is 18,000 mana every six seconds. So you’re going to have a lot of mana to uh do a lot of burning when you click that breastplate. But uh for the most part that’s it. Like I mean tier one would be the next one down uh but you know tier two’s pretty easy to get in all honesty. Uh I would say it’s easier to get than tier one since it is lore and you can you can only have one piece of it whereas you can have you know a billion pieces of this diminishing accord stuff right. So uh it just depends. But uh yeah. So that’s that’s how I play my wizard. It’s pretty simple. It’s probably the simplest class that I play. Uh not too much to it. Very you know very easy. Now there are optimizations I can do uh if I wasn’t running a uh if I wasn’t running a mage, I would definitely probably not be as fire heavy. But, I want to make sure I’m triggering all the synergies all the time, right? So, that’s kind of a the optimization I made for myself. Uh, and that, you know, varies for everybody else. So, uh, that’s that. So, if you have any questions or comments, leave them down below. If you like the comment uh the content, right? Uh, leave a leave a comment. Like it. Subscribe to the channel. Uh, if you have any questions that are more detailed than, you know, a single line, uh, I would definitely pop on my Discord and ask there. Uh, other people play wizards in my Discord. I play wizard. Uh, so there’s a lot of people that can answer your questions. I believe, if I did it right, there should be a link to the official wizard Discord in the bottom. If not, uh, someone tell me what it is and I’ll link it in the bottom. Uh, but uh definitely uh you know, there’s a lot of options out there. So, thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
