Necro is fun but wiki required?
Second try at Monsters and Memories, this time a deep gnome Necromancer on a different server. The class is fun and the pet makes it playable, but the first quest only completes if you type a slash command no screen mentions, mana comes back far too slowly, and an hour and twenty minutes got me to level 2.
Second attempt at Monsters and Memories, made after the first video turned into 45 minutes of failing to find the person my rookie note named. This time I rolled a deep gnome Necromancer on a different server, kept the interface more or less default, and opened the wiki the moment I was stuck. The class is fun once the skeleton pet is out, but the first quest only completes if you type a slash command that nothing in the game mentions, mana regeneration is painfully slow, and an hour and twenty minutes got me to level 2.
Building the Necromancer
Quicker than last time, and still short on explanations.
- I picked a deep gnome, which is a different thing from a regular gnome and starts with slightly different stats. The appearance sliders worked, including a beard I could turn white.
- The class wants agility and intelligence, so I put points into both. Clicking a stat tells you what it does: agility raises the chance of abilities triggering on hits, and intelligence raises maximum mana and its regeneration.
- I ended on 26 agility and 29 intelligence. Intelligence went up to 29 first, and the few points left over were spread between the two.
- Intelligence is also my chosen trait, and I took the dark vision option because seeing anything down here is hard. I learned that the hard way last time.
- The secondary pick is the survivalist, which a viewer on my Discord recommended. It comes with an extra bag, and I also took an alteration pick without knowing what it does.
- Underdocks was the only start offered, and I was happy with it because I already knew roughly how it works.
- I chose a Necromancer because the Shaman is poor for soloing. The people I asked said Necromancer, Elementalist, Beastmaster and Cleric all solo well.
What You Start With
A scythe, a candle, a book and a note.
- The server shows about a thousand players, and I like that the game states the number outright instead of hiding it behind high, medium and low.
- The kit is a small scythe, a candle and a book. The candle lights the area a little, although dark vision makes it nearly unnecessary.
- Life Drain is the first attack, and the right mouse button on it shows the full description. It is an evocation spell, not alteration, so my earlier pick did not match.
- A small undead shield comes with it. It raises maximum health by 10, armor class by 5, magic resistance by 5 and every other resistance by 1, for an hour.
- Spells and skills drag onto the hotbar the way they do in EverQuest. I put the shield and Life Drain on the bar.
- Sense of Direction and Survival Crafting are the starting skills. Survival Crafting makes torches, bandages and similar things.
- The starting bag adds six slots, and the pack also holds food and water. The spell book takes up a bag slot too.
- The rookie note is clearer than the Shaman's, and it still names a temple and a person and leaves you to find both without a map.
The Chapel Quest and the Wiki
Where I gave in and read the page.
- I found the note's person by luck, following the bats and wandering until he turned up. Handing the note over gave me a novice tunic.
- Conversation only responds to certain keywords. In the Shaman video I typed full sentences, so this time I guessed single words and got further. The first test is easier than the Shaman's, which I never finished.
- The test is to carry a small effigy of yourself to a chapel and offer it on the altar for a blessing. Nothing tells you where the chapel is.
- The library, the crypt and the knights' rooms were all wrong. There is a lot of furniture and books you cannot interact with, which made it worse.
- A bat killed me while I was wandering. It hit for seven, I came back with nothing on me and had to run to my own corpse. The spells then had to be learned again.
- I found the chapel by going higher up, and once I was there, right click and left click on the altar did nothing at all.
- The beginner's guide button opens a web page. The wiki's Necromancer quest page says to type a slash place bowl command, which I could never have guessed and which is not in the game.
- It worked immediately. I got the bowl back, a mantle and a little experience. I would put a hint in the first quest, and I think right clicking beside the bowl should be enough.
Bones, Mana and a Slow Level 2
The part that does not make good video.
- The next task is to collect four bone fragments and combine them. It goes to an abbot and then to one of his disciples, and the skeletons outside the temple are where the fragments drop.
- Mana is the problem. I sat for about five minutes and it was still not full, and sitting did not seem to speed it up at all.
- Sit is a button, not Control S. Control S turns sound effects on and off, which is a strange key to give up when the rest are familiar.
- Damage is tiny early on. Life Drain does about four points by my reading, and melee with the training scythe is around the same.
- I had to edit out the healing time every three or four kills. That alone makes this a poor game to record in this state.
- The experience bar barely moves, and an easy kill and an even-level kill felt the same.
- A viewer says mana regeneration improves at level 4. I do not know if that is true yet, and I did not get there.
- Tab targeting often skips the enemy right in front of me, and I could not tell why.
- There is no loot all button. Every item is picked up one at a time, and there is a small global delay between actions.
The Pet, the Damage Spell and Better Pay
Things got better once I stopped grinding.
- The skeleton pet is the first thing that felt good. It costs one bone fragment to cast, it taunts, and it can tank, which is what I needed.
- It handles an even-level enemy, though a yellow one was too much, and I lost track of its health more than once. The fights went faster.
- A vendor sells the pet spell and Noxious Flow, the first damage over time spell. It does five damage over 30 seconds.
- Nothing shows on the target while it ticks. I can check a mob and see its debuffs, so I would like them to simply appear on it.
- Buying spells is a right click on the vendor. It does not take away spells you already own, so do not buy the same one twice.
- Turning in the bones got me a delivery receipt, and handing that to the abbot paid a lot of experience for one errand. Quests may be the faster way to level here, and the game may simply be built around them.
- The wiki then pointed me to a woman upstairs, who wanted spider parts, so I went after the cave spiders. Bat fur and spider legs both dropped.
Selling, Interface and the Frame Rate
Smaller complaints that add up.
- Each vendor buys only certain items, and nothing shows which. My bags filled with junk before I found anyone who wanted it.
- A Reddit post says you have to walk 15 minutes to sell something, and the developer replied that this is intended. I found that candid and did not enjoy it.
- The rusty hammer sold for a few coppers, a bat for four, and I ended with 64 copper. A backpack costs six silver, so there is some value in it.
- It runs through Wine on Linux, and it gets slower the longer I play. Idle, it used about 4.7 gigabytes of memory, 15% of the processor and 16% of the graphics card, on a 4080.
- No other game I run that way does this. World of Warcraft, EverQuest and Final Fantasy XIV all hold their frame rate under the same setup.
- The installer offers Linux and sets up Wine and the UMU launcher anyway. It is a Unity game, so a native Linux build looks possible, and I would rather have that.
- There is a frame rate counter, and I eventually found it. The interface settings are otherwise thin.
- There are no instances. A contested spot is settled between players or through the server administrators, and the play nice policy that goes with it feels childish to me.
Where I Left It
Slow, and I will keep trying.
- Slow is the main problem. In about the same time I reached roughly level 12 in live EverQuest, around level 5 on a progression server, and level 6 in World of Warcraft. I have level 2 with three experience bubbles here.
- The game has 60 levels, and if it gets slower as you go, I will die of boredom. I would rather not repeat the same skeletons and spiders for four more hours to test it.
- It copies EverQuest with updated graphics, and it feels to me like it missed the parts of EverQuest that were interesting. I like the graphics and the art style.
- It hides information the client should show. Debuffs on a mob and the slash command for the first quest are both things I had to leave the game to learn.
- The ladders on the piers appear to be new, since I could not get out of the water last time. Maybe an update added them.
- I said I would like my twelve dollar subscription back, but I am subscribed for the month and will make a few more videos. A few people on my Discord play it and love it.
- If you like it, or hate it, tell me. I especially want to hear whether it gets better from here.
Your First Hour as a Necromancer in Monsters and Memories
- Put points into agility and intelligence. Clicking a stat tells you what it does.
- Take the survivalist secondary if you want the extra bag.
- Drag Life Drain and the small undead shield onto the bar as soon as you are in.
- At the chapel altar, type the slash place bowl command. Nothing in the game tells you to.
- Cast the skeleton pet early. It costs one bone fragment and tanks well.
- Do the errands, not just the grind. The receipt turn-in paid far more than the skeletons.
- Press the sit button, not Control S, and expect regeneration to be slow until later levels.
- Use the beginner's guide link for the wiki. It opens a web page and it is where the answers are.

Hello and welcome to Monsters and Memories. This is actually my second video, and I decided not to post the first one because it consisted of 45 minutes of me trying in vain to find the guild master to give the note to, so we’ll try again. So, we will create a new character. Well , let’s start this process. A different server than last time . You know, it’s really a different server. In my previous video, I created an oda- shaman. This time I’ll make a deep-sea gnome , like this. We will try to play as a necromancer. Good. This game is very similar to EverQuest, isn’t it? You could literally say that this game is very, very similar to it. Keep this in mind while we’re going through this stage, but we can change the appearance a little, like the hair color. That’s it. It seems he can’t. Okay, can we make him bald? Does he have facial hair? Mustache? Just a mustache…Okay, he can have a beard. That’s it. Good. Only one of two things. Okay, can we make it white? Yes. I don’t think it’s white. Let’s try again . Here it is. I’ll call this guy No Merguard. Like all my dwarves- necromancers, right? So, deep-sea gnomes…there are regular gnomes and deep-sea gnomes. You know, there is a slight difference in the initial characteristics. Uh-huh. I think this option would be quite normal. So, being a necromancer requires agility and intelligence. Therefore, we will definitely put a few points into these characteristics. If we click on them, we’ll see what they do, right? Increases the chance of activating abilities during hits, right? Yes, let’s return everything to the way it was . And if we click on intelligence, right? We will see that this increases the maximum mana reserve and its regeneration. So we’ll probably want to get it to 29, right? This will leave us with four points that can be distributed anywhere we want. I’ll put 25. Maybe 26. Let’s do it like this. According to the wiki, it’s a skill, right? In my first video, I didn’t use a wiki. I did not use any external sources. And I’ve already read a little bit of information on this. Which is quite , well, quite strange, in my opinion . But we’ll talk about that a little later. So, we will choose “intelligence” as one of our traits. And then we’ll take an ultrasound, because seeing in the dark here is terrible . I have already learned this lesson. So, Darcy on my Discord advised me to take a “survivor” , this one. This will give us a survival bag at the start . Well, give us another bag, right? And then we’ll take…I have no idea . I really don’t even know what…which one do we need here? The necromancer is on the list here. I don’t even know, we get a life-sucking spell, but if you don’t know anything about the game and don’t read the wiki, then you won’t have any idea what to do. And that was, you know, one of the things I was complaining about, right? You simply don’t know anything because the lack of information in these prompts makes you think, “Wow, what am I even doing?” But let’s go. So, we have our character. We have 26 agility, 29 intelligence. And we choose a location. Looks like Underdocks is the only place we can go, right? Yes, let’s choose Underdocks, because I’ve been there before and…I know a little bit about how it works, and I feel more confident choosing Underdocks. OK. So, we will create a deep-sea gnome necromancer. I think I chose this, right? Yes, a deep-sea necromancer. We’ll start in Underdocks, it seems to be the only available location. And so. I choose the necromancer because I played a shaman before, and it turned out that it was not a class for solo play. Not very suitable for playing alone. But necromancer, elementalist, maybe beastmaster, and as Darcy says, cleric are really good for soloing, so…I’ll take intelligence, more intelligence, alteration—I don’t even know what for. I have no idea what this will give us. And then the ultrastar and the survivor. OK. That’s all. Here he is. He has a small scythe , a candle and a book. And Underdocks. As you can see, there are a thousand players on this server . They’re very open about the numbers, which is quite nice these days, you know, compared to games that just use ” high,” “medium,” and “low,” but I’ll warn you right off the bat. Uh, it’s a pretty complex hardcore MMO. It’s not like, uh, you know, some of the simpler games, so. Keep this in mind . So, we can go here. We can click on our student candle. And it will illuminate this area a little bit if we need it, but with ultrasound it’s much easier to see everything. So if we open our bag again, we get a ” life drain” spell , which is, uh, exactly what you thought. This is a life extension. Hold down the right mouse button here. We see the full clue, and this, what it is, is an evocation. This, this is not an alteration. I was fooled. And then we have, uh, “small undead shield,” which, uh, is another ability, right? So this one, uh, raises the undead energy shield , increasing your maximum health by 10, armor class by 5, magic resistance by 5, and all other resistances by 1 for one hour. OK. We can put it, say, on the 10th ability down there. And this is to put it on the 1st ability. So it’s just like EverQuest. Uh, you know, you just do it like that, and you can do it, so. OK. We got our spells. Now, there’s no beginner’s skills here, but, uh, here are these skills, ” sense of direction.” I’ll want to put this there. Uh, you’ll also want to put ” lifesucking” on your panel. If I’m not stupid and can drag it there. That’s it. And then ” survival crafting”. I have no idea what it does. Uh, so we’ll click on it here. Oh , it gives us a little thing so we can make torches, bandages, and stuff like that. Okay, pretty cool. So, we have food, we have water, we have our extra bag, which gives us an extra six inventory slots on top of the , uh, other things here. And we have a folded note. Wake up, dreamer. The Master has called you into his service. Put aside your pathetic ambitions and seek the temple of Yorgot or Horat. Give this note to Soren Akdin. Akaday. And make your offering. OK. This, uh, this note is clearer and more, uh, uh , direct than the shaman’s note. I’ll say it right now. So, you can take a look around here. There’s literally nothing here, right? The world is so…very empty, if you will . Hmm, very empty indeed. So, Lorris. Uh, there. I don’t see this guy. Let me double- check that name. Soren. Okay, let’s …Wait, that guy’s name is Soren? I’m just checking again . Okay, Lorris. Lorris. What’s in this direction? S-Soren and the Undertaker. Now, uh, one of the things that seems a little problematic to me. This game runs through Wine, although it has an installer for Linux, and I’m not thrilled with that. I think if they’re going to support Linux, they should go all the way and provide a native client. But you know, we have what we have. So, as you can see , it’s not in this area, right? This is probably the same problem as before, but we’ll see. There is no map in the game right now . There, uh, there’s nothing like it. So if we have to look up where this guy is, he’ll probably be on wiki or something. So, uh, I think, monstersandmemories. wiki —that’s what a wiki is. There’s another one, something like monstersandmemories.megazi or something like that. Ahem. This is another wiki I saw , but when I looked at them, it seemed like one just copied the other. So, okay, we found a bunch of bats and stuff. So maybe this is the right direction. Okay. Let’s keep going here. Here…here he is. Okay, we got lucky. We figured it out. So, let’s approach this guy. We press “I ”, take the note, give it to him. We give. Gives us a novice tunic. That’s all. Let’s say hello to him. Now he has a task to do. I’ll try to remember how I did it the other time, okay? Look, let’s make this font size seven, I think, right? This should work. And then let’s make it…let’s make it bigger. That’s it. How the hell do I get in? Okay, you appear before me like in my nightmare, Nomagard. So, let’s say, a nightmare. Nightmares are visits from Horat, bestowed upon all who are afraid on this earth. It is my night terror that has called you here to begin its work. I will say ” work”. So, in my Shaman video, I typed complete sentences because I thought it was better that way. It turns out that only certain words are liked here. So I will be very specific now. I’m just guessing at the words here. So these tasks are a little easier than the Shaman quests, because I couldn’t even complete the first quest as the Shaman. Many souls wander Et Ur, feigning courage, their false courage— the wisdom of Horat knows courage in the face of unfathomable terror. We must lead them into his kingdom with fear, or with the right fear in their hearts. This you must do, Necromancer, whether by sign or by sword. If you pass the test, the test. Okay, the crowd carries fear in their blood, their bones are born of Horat. This is your test. Take this effigy to the chapel and offer it as a sacrifice. Place the scarecrow on the altar and receive a blessing. The leftovers are returned with what is left. But I must warn you : look down and don’t look at the face. OK. I almost, I almost look like this. OK. OK. So now we need to find a chapel. There’s a journal there, you can press J to , you know, go back and reread what people said. Uh, so. Where the hell is this chapel? What do we have here? We’ll just take a look around. Let’s try to figure this out somehow. What is this ? This is a library, right? Can we go there? No. There is only a library. And what do we have here? There are some knights here. Okay, let ‘s go up. And a library. This is our knight commander. Okay, these guys are kind of suspicious. Let’s go even higher. And here it is. Here. Okay , so uh, let’s get back to that guy. Maybe he can give us more guidance. Here, down. Where did he go? OK. What was the last thing he said to me? Is that upstairs? Okay, let’s take it to the target. Chapel. Where is this chapel? Okay, maybe she’s down here. Okay, we have a crypt. The crypt keeper’s favorite. Oh, there’s a whole bunch of guys down there. Let’s see. A small scarecrow in your likeness. Good. Guardians of the bones. This, this doesn’t look like a chapel at all. I mean, maybe for these weirdos it is, but…Let’s try clicking and see what happens. No. And that, that’s exactly what’s causing the difficulties, right? Like, what should I do, huh? And the answer, of course, is to go to the wiki and read it, it will clearly tell you what to do, but in my opinion, that’s not the best way to play the game. And I don’t really learn anything because these rooms are, damn, empty, right? It seems like there’s something here, some objects that you can’t interact with, just decorations, right ? Eh, I can’t do anything about all this. Books I can’t read. You know, it’s just content that you can’t interact with. We’ve already been up there, so let’s go back down. I’m trying, really trying, to learn as much as I can without reading a bunch of everything, okay? I do n’t think I should go on the wiki to play the game, right? And, you know, other people might have a different opinion on this, but …Okay, what if I go to these guys? You have no business here, necromancer. OK. I have nothing to do here, in the necromancer’s cell. Like, seriously, what? Okay, let’s go outside. Because there are other buildings in this area , so let’s expand our search. What kind of bat is this ? I’ll try to lure this bat out. The controls here are exactly the same as the robber class, you can press Q to auto-attack and so on, which is quite funny. Okay, where’s the health bar? My God, I died from, I died from a bat. I didn’t even do any harm to that bat. What level was this bat? Similar to the original bat. Okay, I was revived right where I was, and with nothing. Absolutely nothing. So, we need to get out of here. Our corpse is where we were. So this game has, you know, running to your own corpse, right? How fun, right ? How fun, right? And I’m being killed by a bat. I do n’t even know what level that creature was . She dealt me seven points of damage. OK. Exactly, uh, wait, is that through here? I don’t even know how we got to where we were. Uh…I was just acting randomly, so…Hmm, maybe it’s higher up here. Here it is. Yes, that’s where we were. Now, shall we evaluate this? It doesn’t matter . It seems like it’s an even level. I have no idea how the rating system works in this game. Oh, there ‘s not even a “remove all” button here. Oh my God. What is this? Oh, the spell book takes up space in the bag. That’s something. Oh, and we need to relearn our spells. Good. Definitely definitely strange. I won’t lie. This needs to be studied. Okay, let’s put on the shield. Now, let’s…Okay, this looks more like a chapel. Let’s go there and take a look. What is this thing here? This looks like an even level. Hell, I wish I knew the level, but…Oh, yeah. This …this is a chapel. Good. Let ‘s go here. OK. Magazine. Uh, well, yes-yes- yes…Place your image on the altar. You can’t throw it away. Good. No, I don’t want to throw it on the ground. Good. Right-clicking does nothing. Left click does nothing. And this guide for beginners simply opens a site with everything that should be in the game to perform actions. Good. Ai. Magazine. This is your test. Take this image to the chapel that looks like this one and make an offering. Place the image on the altar to receive blessings, okay. It looks like an offering bowl. And it looks like This is the least intuitive thing I’ve ever seen. Do you know what…Do you know what to do? What the hell? This is very unclear. Oh, that’s my effects panel on top. Okay . Okay, I’ll put the health bar here. I’ll place my target below. No, I don’t want to throw it away. If I press the right button, it does this. Good. I think this is a failure. Is there anything else? Oh, wait, wait, okay. Is this an altar? No. This is not an altar. Oh, wait, wait. It seems he did something with his hand. I click on everything I can here. Mhm. Good. OK. So, let’s …let’s click on the beginner’s guide. Let’s drag this here. Oh, but that’s not where we need to go. Go to the Monsters and Memories Wiki. I’ll move it here. Okay, so this is the wiki page I was talking about. Monsters and Memories Wiki. Let’s move on to the Necromancer. Are there any quests here? Okay, so the zones. Deep Underdogs, this is where we are now. Yes, black bat, level one to five. First level. Okay, quest. Here he is. And we want a Necromancer. Start the quest. That’s all. OK. Enter “place bowl”. What? How the hell was I supposed to know that? How could I possibly know that? Oh, that’s more, that’s more, right? Um, gather the fragile femurs. This is to turn this into a beaten tome. What? Put. Put the bowl down. Good. This is not here. That’s not here, is it? How could I have even guessed to type ” place bowl”? This makes no sense at all. Put the bowl down. Okay , you get a sacrificial bowl. Okay , we got it back . Okay, done. I like complicated things, but this is the most pointless and poorly written thing I’ve ever seen. And at this point, I’ll release another video where I spend 45 minutes just looking for a quest character for another quest. I, I, I can’t even . I just can’t . Okay, we’re giving it a go , and it’s working. Okay, we got the mantle and a little more experience. And now we must go to Abbot Garrow. Maybe you’ll find it below. OK. So he’s down here. Abbot Garrow. Okay, we have an open wiki, so we can cheat a little , but I would never have guessed the “place” command. Okay, he’s a coach. We do n’t need it. Can I just talk to him? So, congratulations. Uh-huh. I am a newbie. Postgraduate. Yes, you look like a beaten dog. You might even be praised for getting your tail in the master’s temple, but you have to learn to stand up straight. You are on the right path. Fortunately, I have a suitable task. Our work requires materials, test yourself against the rising dead outside our temple. Okay, you get a bone purse from him. Take the bag, collect four bones, combine them, and deliver them to my disciple Vero. Good. So, we now have a quest. I also want to point out that the performance of this, you know, client in Wine is not very high compared to other games I play through Wine here on Linux. It’s like, well, not the best performance. There is a draining of life. Good. Again, the life is being sucked out. Well, because. This thing regenerates while I’m fighting it. Yes. That’s it. Okay, we killed our first mob. That’s it. Yes, we got scraps of fabric and some other things. Okay, there’s no “collect all” button here. What the hell. Yes, collect. I don’t care. Ahem. That’s it. There seems to be some kind of global delay here. This is a little annoying. That’s it. It’s a good thing these things don’t help each other, right? Good. I just died. Oh my God. A. Okay. Oh, bone fragments. Bone fragments. Good. Need some mana. How can I sit here? I bet it’s Control S, right? No, those are sound effects. Ahem. There is a button here. Okay, let’s sit for a second, get some mana. Good. Let’s see if we can handle this rebellious knight. This one hits pretty hard. Well, because … Sitting does n’t seem to speed up my mana regeneration at all. Uh , I won’t lie. Hmm, that didn’t seem to do anything for me. Well, because. That’s it. What do we have? More bone fragments. Still eh . whatever it is. Why isn’t it Control S? They copied all the other keys except this one. Who wants a hotkey to turn sounds on and off anyway ? This is kind of strange. Okay, we need to, uh, we need to get mana. So we’re almost at level two, which is good, but as you can see, my mana isn’t growing much. Wow, that guy hit 306. Good. I’m a little, I’m a little upset. This is some kind of very slow mana regeneration. I’ve been sitting here for 5 minutes , and my mana isn’t even full. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but the brittle femur finally fell out. Oh my god, there’s not even a drop . Uh-huh. Let’s go here . Maybe there are fewer people here. Let’s just approach this guy. But uh, yeah, now that we’ve got it set up, I mean, it works pretty well, but I, I, I would like faster mana regeneration, I have to say. This is what I mean, this is boring. Well, I won’t lie. Like, it’s completely boring just sitting there. Oh my God. What is this thing? Call it whatever you want. I don’t even think I can kill this thing. I don’t have enough mana. I only deal three points of damage per spell. And I’m out of mana. I have maybe one more . Oh my God, why is n’t there a ” collect all” button? Like, just And it’s kind of, kind of, Oh, yeah. Let’s turn on autoattack here. Good. Melee , melee damaged him a little. Although I think we’re going to die. Honestly , I don’t think I can stand it. Mostly it’s just an attempt to restore whatever is possible. This could be, this could be a tough fight. I’ll come back to the other side. I didn’t know there were aggressive snakes here. Well, because. Oh. That is, we, we deal about one unit of damage every time we hit. Plus we, uh, we’re here. Oh God, he’s almost dead. Oh, and the second level. Ideally. And we picked up a snake fang. Okay, let’s take whatever it is. Okay, let’s go up here. Come on. Go sit in the mud. I can’t move this corpse. Okay, no mana, no health, you know . AFC. Okay, we’ve restored some mana. Let’s, uh, let’s get some more of these skeletons. Hopefully we can get the four we need. I asked outside of the game, and apparently at level four we get meditation. What is, uh, a little bit, right? But, uh, maybe we’ll do a little less. I think close combat is the key to success here. What else is there, even more graves up there? Maybe it would be useful to have some better weapons. This could work. Let’s just use “life tap” when we’re low on health. This is perhaps the real strategy here. Okay, we got some shoes. There’s one right there. We just turn on the autoattack with the Q key. And bang. That’s it. What level is this? He is blue. This is the first level. But he’s giving me a beating, so I guess my autoattack wasn’t on. Honestly , it’s hard to say . Oh, it’s blinking now. My “life tap” does four points of damage, I don’t know. Oh, he has a ” life tap.” Oh, okay, now I see. Okay, so what. Nothing. This is madness. Okay. Yes, my damage is that low. What weapons do I have? Training scythe. Four harms. Four damage, hidden for two. My God. Okay , I don’t think I’ve seen a femur from one of these yet. Let’s see. Here is the skeleton. I think I will have to undergo treatment again. This doesn’t seem like a very video game-making friendly thing, does it ? Uh, and I say that because I’m sitting here and I have to, you know, edit the video every five, well, three or four kills to cut out the healing time, which is significant, right? So, this is annoying. Maybe at level four, things will go much faster, and we’ll just have to put up with it for, you know, the short term, right ? Like, where are we? I mean, how many have we killed? We barely have any experience. This is terrible. Oh my God. It’s almost comical. Uh I mean, I think I killed more than Whatever the hell this is. Oh my God . This is definitely, uh , interesting. Okay, let’s try to heal a little here. No , we still don’t get those things, right? Oh my God. I can’t even track the bag. That’s OK, we have one of the four. Okay, I guess, uh, let’s keep looking. What do we have here? The experience scale doesn’t even move from killing these creatures. There are no skeletons there. There’s one there. Oh, here’s one. Oh my God. Selecting a target via Tab also sucks here. It’s like the same code. He doesn’t even target the enemy in front of me. Oh, great. I mean, I don’t even know how you can I don’t even know how you can program and mess up target selection via Tab like that, right? Uh, based on, you know, the immediate target. I mean , I just I mean , oh my god. Okay, let’s continue. Good. After that, I’ll do this: I’ll farm four bones. And, uh, then we’ll continue, right? Like, uh, this game isn’t really conducive to making videos, so I’ll do this because I’m literally going to be healing here for a while or a second, but I’m getting a lot of bone fragments. So, this is going well for me, right? So, we have two. So let’s make two more. And uh, we’ll be back soon . OK. So, I was walking around a bit because I was tired of just waiting for my mana to regenerate, and I found this guy, uh, Zal’ex Mortain, he sells, uh, skeletons and “Noxious Flow,” right? This seems to be our first damage over time spell. And our pet…Oh my god, seriously? I swear, dragging spells is harder than I expected. OK. But, uh, I noticed that I couldn’t sell…I couldn’t sell everything to these guys. So you have to look for specific merchants for specific items , which, well, again, I’m hardly interested in doing. OK. But we have a pet, uh, ” skeleton call,” at least I think so. I think this should work as a first level necromancer spell. Isn’t that right? Let’s try. Maybe it will help us kill them a little faster. We are reading this. One bone fragment is required for use . And, uh, he hits and provokes. That’s it. Oh, he has his own little thing too. Okay , let’s get this guy. Good. Our pet . It works pretty well. Teasing, I guess. Okay, that worked. Okay, let’s look at the pet. I like him, don’t I ? Look at those pieces of fabric. Oh, yes, it’s much better than having…Oh, yes , much better. Okay, this pet is working pretty well. Okay, we got another femur. And some more bone fragments, perfect. And now there are no more skeletons. I guess you can’t rob other people’s corpses, I guess. Now these cave spiders, we’re going to need one of them for the next class. Let’s see what level it is. This is an equal opponent, so it should give more experience. We don’t seem to get anything, right? We are second-rate, but it feels like we are 45th, right? Of course, uh , you know, maybe it’s just fights with easy targets. There should be a little more from these guys. Let’s see what happens here. I can’t see where this damage is going, right? Where is this damage spell anyway? Is that really what it is ? What does it do? Five units of damage over 30 seconds. Okay, this is a 30 second damage spell . I haven’t seen it, but I don’t see any weakening effect on it. Maybe I’m just…Okay, there are no debuffs on the target to indicate what’s hanging over it . This is kind of nonsense. Okay, let’s take this. Let’s put it here. I mean I don’t even see it, like, Okay, we have our femurs. Well , let’s do it. Let’s go here, combine them. We get a complete summary of the bones that went there. OK. Now, this guy was downstairs. So, I don’t have a way to cure this pet yet, so I’ll probably have to summon another one. And here’s this for you. He does n’t want this. What the hell? Diary. Maybe I should have given it to someone else, right? Barbarian. Okay, where is this guy? Come on, uh, okay, he’s not down here. Maybe he’s upstairs. Oh my God . Okay, let’s see what we have. Lady Tabitha. Initiates. Okay, let’s continue upstairs. So, it’s the same zone. I think this is where I found the spell dealer. There it is , just right-click. And you can buy spells. It doesn’t remove spells you’ve already bought, so don’t be a fool, I guess. No. Come on, let’s go up here. Who is this guy? Who are you? Your blade. Oh, he sells bone fragments. Fish bones. OK. It’s just some kind of survival game, we’re looking for people. I mean, it’s definitely quite a bit of frustration. I feel like this shouldn’t be happening, right? This path leads downwards. What do we have? The knight is a father. And what about the other side? Destroyer Knight . Okay, maybe they’re over there, in another building. I guess I’m just confused, really. But the skeleton did everything a little faster, and the experience from an equal opponent was no better, so at least there is something positive. Uh-huh . So, let’s take a look. We went there . We went downstairs. We went up. Wait, where is this guy? No, they’re just skeletons. I made it . Rilwan is there. So, it’s just guys. Okay , let’s check here. Manret Bakar, father, sister. Oh my god, seriously? Diary. Mhm. The game client seems to be getting slower while I’m playing. What is the first time? I have, uh, I don’t know how to turn on FPS display in this game, but maybe, maybe it’s …Oh, there it is, right there. Okay, great. So, what’s in this bag? Ah, delivery. Sister Oreva and I will find a good use for them. Scrolls, a note in his journal, tears out a page. Take this receipt and thank the abbot for the opportunity. Our paths will cross again. And we have a delivery receipt. Okay, let’s go and hand it over. That was a lot of experience, right? So maybe quests are a way to get… Maybe this game is just more quest-oriented. Maybe that’s how it is. Because grinding is not… Okay. Yes, now we know where this guy is. My pet is full, I have full mana. We are ready. Ready to go fight someone. If the opportunity arises. Good. What is this? I…and give him the receipt. What a tattered volume gives us is a primary or secondary subject. Yes. Seriously? There is no torch slot here. This…This is something. Good. Let’s see. Reputation with ” Trembling Hand” has improved. Until… Okay. So he doesn’t say anything special there . Don’t bother me anymore. Good. Now, the wiki I opened on the other side says I need to go talk to Lady Tabitha, right? But I don’t see it. But the path…Okay. Let’s go quickly and say hello to her. She’s just upstairs. I guess I need to be level three or some other nonsense for the next quest, right? And this, you know, is a 6 o’clock grind here. I’m killing these skeletons, so. Uh, yes. Here she is . Let’s say hello. Good. Um…I…look. You… collect spiders. Yeah, okay, so…Okay, I guess we’ll go outside and kill a few more things that give very little experience, right? Maybe focus on these spiders. Forward. What about a pet, it’s not so bad, right? You see, a pet …can actually be a tank, which is what I needed, right? I needed a mob tank to make it a little easier. I, by the way, just hit an eight with my axe there…a while ago. See, here are six. So , it’s not that bad, right? Like…spider legs, spider webs. Let’s evaluate this bat. The bat is still yellow. That one too. So, the bat will be a more difficult mob. What about here? Okay, let’s say this seat is taken. One thing I don’t like about this game is the ” play nice” policy. And apparently there are no instances in the game , so it sounds like any conflict would have to be resolved through server administration or something. I just don’t like it. It’s like some kind of child’s play. But of course, you know, it’s a choice—not to have, you know…a choice not to have all these certain things , right? That’s all. Now I feel quite strong. I killed two such creatures. Okay, we got a rusty hammer. Yeah, let’s put that spider thing here. We are running out of inventory space. And I have no idea where to sell this junk, right? That’s the thing. That’s why it’s strange. I think I could beat this bat. Let’s try. I think…Oh, what was that? He…I check it and it says he still has it. What? This…This is definitely…I mean, there must be a way to turn on the lights or something. Let’s see, because that would just be ridiculous. Honestly, it’s impossible …if I can check a mob and see debuffs, I should be able to see my debuffs on it too. I mean…this…I’m going to…I’ve already lost three health divisions. My pet is about to kick his hooves. So I was inattentive to him again. Yes. This will be a costly battle. That’s it. Okay . But this is my bat fur . Okay, let’s call the skeleton. And …I can pull this knight out, I guess. Oh, wait. No, we’re going to kill this cryptic spider. I’ll just let the dog do it. Come on. Yes, that’s it . Yes, look at the dog. He can handle his equal, not too bad, right? Yellow is a bit too difficult for him. OK. That’s all. Okay, let’s go try to sell this [ __ ] somewhere, because…I , I, I have a whole bag full of everything, I’m almost completely stuffed, but I can’t sell anything to those guys over there. They all…they only want to buy bone fragments and all that crap. This is kind of ridiculous. My God. The frame rate gradually drops the longer I play. So that’s a problem. Okay, let’s jump into the water. There must be some kind of memory leak or something going on here. And I…I play, I play WoW through Wine, it’s Wine through Crossover, I play Everquest, and none of those games have the framerate issues that this one has, so you know for sure, don’t use Unity to make your game. Okay, I think I’ll put up 45 minutes of how I couldn’t find a trainer or a shaman, I think it’s funny because…well, you get the idea, so I’m going to post this, it’ll be the second video, but I’ll put them up one after the other. It went a lot better than that, that’s for sure, but it’s definitely early access, so the game needs some work, because I can’t sell anything to this guy either, nothing, it doesn’t even show up when you can sell things. Someone wrote on Reddit that you have to walk 15 minutes to sell something, and the developer actually replied that he wanted people to do that, and I thought it was the most sincere thing in the world, I just… I don’t know. I can sell a bat for four coppers, okay, and I can buy a backpack for six silvers, so there’s some value here. And this… this tattered linen shirt, and this worn… is it worth nothing at all? Type A, what about this rusty hammer? Okay, maybe you’ll buy something. Are you a tanner? You are a coach. Okay, you’re not buying anything. Lazy fools. Coach. More junk. Why do I buy my own crap. What about this guy here? Let me listen. Just give me …Oh, spider legs. Away. Get rid of this. What about you? Nothing. This This is not so good. Gun earring, okay. And what about you , monk? Come out, snake fang. Perfectly. That’s more room in the bag. I want to get rid of this rusty weapon. It seems to me that she is taking up all the slots now. This is the Citadel. There should be more guys here. Survival trainer. Dragonstone, okay . Luminous stones. Lightstones, like …Maybe just like, maybe…Like, I don’t know much about Dungeons & Dragons, maybe. It’s all based on something similar to Dungeons & Dragons, and they all share it, but…Like , yeah, I mean the items are exactly the same too. Font rendering is the same. Like…I don’t even know how to explain it. Of course, the game gets slower and slower as I run, it’s funny. And you don’t buy my junk either. What do we have here? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. OK. Handicraft. You see, you buy armor. How much do we have? 44 copper coins. What do we have here? We have a torch. Oh, I can’t even put it there . I’ll put this here. Like, what kind of [ __ ] is this? I probably can’t sell this. Oh, wait. Wait. Wait. Here it is. Here it is. Rusty hammer. Nine coppers. Four copper coins. Wonderful . We’ll leave the fabric for now, but we already have 64 copper coins. Now, uh… I think we’ll end this. I, I…I have no idea where my guild is. And I think I need to restart the client because it’s definitely caught on the brakes. So, uh, like this . But, uh, this is Monsters and Memories. Er, Monsters and Memories, right? Yes, Monsters and Memories. I need to make sure I named it correctly. This, this, this is a difficult game. It is complicated because it unnecessarily hides information that should be in the client. For example, well, what was I complaining about. Let’s see if there are any options. Uh, edit the interface. Okay, that doesn’t do anything useful . Um, settings. Interface, right? Are debuffs reflected on mobs? Like, that would be great. None. So, these are the kinds of things that don’t make sense, right? Like , why hide it? If I can inspect it and see, why would I go through the inspection process just to see the debuff? Maybe it would be worth making it so that after the inspection, debuffs start appearing on the mob, right? Like, these are little things. Maybe I’m a complete noob and don’t understand anything, right? Like, I’ve been playing EverQuest since, you know, ‘99. I’ve been playing WoW since 2004. And, uh…I can definitely say that this game is different in that it tries to copy EverQuest with updated graphics. I literally think that’s the case, and it feels like they did n’t grab onto the things that, you know, made EverQuest interesting. And I don’t even know what to say. But I will keep trying this game. I would like a refund of my $12 that I paid for the subscription. So I’ll make a few more videos, but she’s definitely too slow for me. That’s actually the main problem, right? I spent an hour and 20 minutes and I’m only at level two with three experience bubbles. I feel like I should be at least level three or four. During the same time, I reached about level 12 in EverQuest live. Playing TLP, I think I reached level five. And in WoW I reached level six in an hour. Everything feels slow here. There are 60 levels in the game , and if it gets even slower as I level up, I’ll probably die of boredom. But I will keep trying. I’ll give her another chance. A few people on my Discord play it and they love it. That’s why I decided to try it. I gave her two chances, because the first time I spent 45 minutes trying to find this tunnel, you know ? The note said to go southwest or west or some other nonsense from the Citadel. And if you have no idea what the Citadel is, then you don’t know what this is. And there’s no map that shows the Citadel, right? So you run around and try to figure it out. It’s that tunnel over there. What’s even funnier is that I couldn’t jump out of the water. There ‘s a ladder there that I have n’t seen before, but I couldn’t jump from there onto the pier. I couldn’t climb the wall there because there was a pier there. I couldn’t climb the wall in that place. I had to swim all the way here. And I couldn’t jump onto this pier. There’s a ladder there that I didn’t see last night. So maybe these ladders were added in today’s update because I don’t remember them yesterday. But who knows? Definitely. You know, I’ll post that video where you can see my frustration, and then this video will come out, which I think will do a little better. We made some progress, but had to open the wiki to figure out how to place the damn bowl. I don’t see any quest instructions in the game that would suggest that you need to type {{}slash} place bowl to do something. And I think it should be, I wouldn’t even call it ” hand-holding.” I would say it’s just a basic, you know, game introduction to the first quest— add a hint, like, hey, you might have to type {{} slash} place bowl. Now I know that in the future I may need to use {{}slash}- commands, but I would never have thought of it myself. Uh, I really wouldn’t have guessed. It doesn’t even make sense that I need to type the {{}slash} command when, to me, just right- clicking while standing next to the bowl should work just fine, right? Uh, I’m a little uh , I’m a little excited, but I don’t know. You know, I’m sure there are people who like this game. I would like to hear your feedback, maybe you will say: “Hey, it will be better from now on.” Mana regeneration improves at level four. Let me know. I want to try to get to level four, but I’m not sure if I have 3 weeks to do it. I do n’t think I have them, do I ? I don’t think I can sit around killing the same skeletons and spiders over and over again for the next 4 hours to achieve this, you know? But, uh, you know, if you have any thoughts, let me know. If you don’t like this game, tell me. If you like it, let me know. I really want to learn more about her and I’m trying to do so. I’m definitely trying, I like the graphics, I like the art style. Uh, I wish it wouldn’t slow down more and more during the game, right? Yes, wait, let me see. resources Uh , what is it called here? task. Here it is. System monitor. What is the current RAM usage? Because it’s just eating up memory like crazy, 15% of the processor, and I’m just standing here and doing nothing. 4.7 gigabytes of RAM. OK. I’m not doing anything, and it’s using 16% of the GPU. Eh, definitely a bit strange. Hmm, this is a game that definitely puts more strain on the processor. Memory…We’ll see if memory usage increases, but it feels much slower now than it did then. And this is another one of the things that annoys me, which I mentioned earlier: they have a downloader for Windows, Mac, and Linux. When you download it on Linux, it actually prompts you to install it through Wine, right? Uh, and set up the UMU launcher and everything else. And it was made in Unity. They could compile a Linux version of the client and it would probably work, right? Uh, I mean, I have my own game written in Rust, and I can compile it on Linux. I can cross- compile it for Windows and Mac, and it works great. I did n’t have to do anything other than update the keys and stuff to make it more OS friendly. But I have the same rendering. I even ran my game on a MacBook Neo at 60 FPS. And my game has a lot more going on than this scene, and it doesn’t consume 50% of the CPU. So I, I’m a little confused, you know, it does n’t even feel like smooth scrolling. Uh, there are certain things I would like to see fixed in order to continue playing. But I, you know, I subscribed for a month. I’m going to try, you know, to play this game as much as I can, along with the other games I play. I play Final Fantasy XIV through Wine, and there’s no such lag, which is strange. And I’m on 4080, you know, with graphics on, so. In every game I play. So yeah, that’s it. Uh, thank you very much for watching, and have a great day. Mm.
