Ogre

Spirit of Hamrok starts: a Shaman from level 1 to 130 in live EverQuest, mostly solo, with a hired mercenary counting as solo. I picked an Ogre for the stun immunity, ran the whole training area in about an hour, and ended it at level 11 with the first rules of the run laid out.

Episode1

The first episode of a new series: a Shaman from level 1 to 130 in live EverQuest, played mostly solo, with a mercenary that I count as solo. The character is a fresh Ogre carrying the heroic stats of a level 40 Shaman I already have, so the early levels are a challenge rather than a stroll. This episode is the training area from the first hire to level 11, done in about an hour on purpose after the last series spent four episodes on its tutorial. Most of the talking is about why an Ogre, why a mercenary is not cheating, and what I will and will not carry over from my main.

What the Series Is

One Shaman, one run, no group by choice.

  • A Shaman from level 1 to 130 in EverQuest 1, played mostly solo. I know not everything can be done that way, so there will be missions where I go looking for a group on the server.
  • The server is Drinal, where most of my other characters live.
  • The character already exists as a level 40 Shaman, but I wanted to show 1 to 40 with a challenge, so I made a fresh one on a persona with my heroic stats and gear carried over.
  • At level 41 I switch to my other character, which I expect to start close to naked. I will re-farm gear as I go, unless I happen to have an item to trade.
  • Each episode will be a random zone for the level, picked with my site. I have no idea yet where episode two lands.
  • Weekly, and I will not cut much. I would rather show everything than answer why I skipped how I raised a bar.

Why an Ogre

Stun immunity, and the roads not taken.

  • The reason is frontal stun immunity. I will be taking hits all the way to 130, and a stun can be the difference between a fight and a death. I understand an Ogre Shaman never gets full immunity, but even partial matters when you are solo.
  • A Troll or an Iksar would give regeneration, and I think regeneration is the cheapest healing in the game. It is a racial ability, so it costs no mana.
  • Regeneration also suits multiple windows, which is why a Troll made sense for my second Shaman. You can spam Cannibalize and heal for free.
  • Stamina is the Shaman's stat for this, because Cannibalize turns health into mana. The Ogre starts me high on it, around 151 by the caption.
  • Cannibalize arrives around level 23 or 24. That has moved over the years, and until then mana is slow.
  • The Ogre is one of the weaker Shaman races for wisdom. I read 143 on screen, and that includes the defiant gear picked up along the way.
  • Ogres eat more than most races, and so do halflings. Buy more food than you think.

The Mercenary Counts as Solo

My definition, stated up front.

  • I hire one in the training area on the aggressive setting. My first click was the wrong one, so I paused and hired a different one.
  • If you do not box, you will most likely be playing with a mercenary, since anyone can have one after level 75 on TLP, or 85 on others. I do not draw a line between that and solo, and I did not want to argue about a word like molo.
  • It tanks well early. I set him as main tank and myself as main assist, which makes him pull more attention, and he held at around 94% while his own regeneration kept him up.
  • He fights with two weapons from level 10. He then hits for about 18 a swing, almost without a break.
  • Spirit of Wolf at level 9 goes on both of us. It speeds the whole run up noticeably.
  • I also got a better light heal at 9, which matters because I heal him and myself from the same mana.
  • The plan is to play the way I play my Necromancer: damage over time and slow on the mob, with the mercenary tank kept alive, instead of rooting and exhausting it.
  • Which mercenary comes later is an open question. An Ogre tank or a frog are the two ideas, and I asked for comments before I choose at the Plane of Knowledge.

Training in an Hour

Clicking through it on purpose.

  • The goal was one video, not four. The last series took four episodes to get through its training, so this time I clicked through the conversations and kept moving.
  • It works as a long chain of small quests. Rats and bats, a run of pest nests for arrows, a spider cave with a tamer and cocoon silk, and then a goblin cave with slaves and a named at the end.
  • The silk is sewn into a tunic, and the crafted pieces come back as armor. Extra bracelets dropped along the way.
  • The overseers, the warrior and four captains were in two different caves, and I killed them in that order. A locksmith carries a key you need to beat up.
  • The barrels drop backpacks, which is the real loot. I check every one, and a bought backpack costs about eight gold, so it is worth the effort.
  • Replacing a bag with a better one added four slots, and a quiver is not worth keeping once you have another.
  • Kills pay one silver to two gold each, which was a good rate for the level.
  • Level 10 paid a mace, a bracelet and boots when I turned in. The last fight is the pit leader below, and one more turn in finished the training.
  • One quest I left behind: the spider queen needs a quest I did not have yet, so I will come back for it.

Spells and Mana, 6 to 11

Slow until the first Cannibalize.

  • I was given a few spells automatically, among them Sicken, Frost Rift, Cobalt Scar, Spirit of the Bear and Slow, by the captions. I put Sicken on the bar.
  • The first hit of a damage spell I checked was 27. That felt fine for the level.
  • Level 8 brought Infected Breath, a poison damage over time spell. Shamans specialise in poison, pain and magical damage over time, and later get combination spells.
  • By level 10 Infected Breath did 15 to 16 a tick. It is nothing next to melee yet, and I am saying so now so the level 130 comparison lands.
  • Two damage over time spells emptied my mana. I sat for a few minutes after every group, with the mercenary holding the fight.
  • Level 7 was mostly junk spells like spiritual sight and healing blindness. I cleared the ones I did not recognise from the bar.
  • One kill gave 6.9% experience. There is no experience bonus that I know of, although a Halloween event is running with quests I am too low for.
  • I finished at level 11 right after the pit leader, and the levels were coming quickly by then.

The Rules of the Run

What I am carrying over, and what stays behind.

  • I will not use my main's Jann's Veil or his top mounts until the run reaches the matching eras. The caption renders it as Jaina's, which is almost certainly the same item.
  • The persona keeps heroic stats and little else. That is a few hundred hit points at levels 1 to 20, and without gear I expect about 2,500 hit points at 40.
  • Spells are granted automatically up to level 120, which I estimate saves 1.5 to 2 million platinum and a lot of farming I do not want to do.
  • Alchemy comes with the Shaman now. I already have it high on another character, but I will need clarity and spirituality potions, and I can make illusion potions too.
  • Illusions do not cut the level 15 requirement, but they do not remove the Ogre's racial feature, so I can look like a dwarf and keep it.
  • I do not plan to run a second window. If I ever do, it will be passive and probably a Necromancer or Mage, because a Beastmaster needs too much work for how I want to play.
  • I am using a custom parser. It is the one from my EverQuest Legends videos, made for EverQuest alone, and it was not ready for this episode.

Where It Goes Next

A random zone, a mercenary vote and an open invitation.

  • Episode two is a completely random zone for my level, and I will not know until I roll it. If it comes up, I may do quests in Crescent Reach, although I do not plan to.
  • Comment on what the mercenary should be. I will take it into account when I get to the Plane of Knowledge and have to choose.
  • Tell me what to check on the way to 130. Anything that looks interesting from a Shaman's side is fair, and I will look at it.
  • Recorded on October 17. With Extra Life coming in November, I want to get ahead and release on a steady weekly rhythm, then use weekends to catch up.
  • I think the Shaman is one of the top five solo classes, and classes with pets are probably a little better. I would like to be surprised either way.

Starting an Ogre Shaman Solo

  1. Hire the mercenary in training and set it aggressive. It carries the early levels.
  2. Make it main tank and yourself main assist so it holds attention.
  3. Loot every barrel. Backpacks are the best drop and cost about eight gold to buy.
  4. Cast Spirit of Wolf at 9 on yourself and the mercenary.
  5. Use the damage over time spells and slow, then sit. Mana is the limit until Cannibalize around 23 or 24.
  6. Heal with the light heal at 9, and keep an eye on the mercenary as well as yourself.
  7. Eat and drink more than you expect. Ogres burn through food.

Hello and welcome to the spirit of Hamrock. This is our new series. We’ll be playing as a shaman from level 1 to 130 in EverQuest 1. And it’s going to be a little weird because the character I’ll be using already has a level 40 shaman . But I wanted to show leveling from 1 to 40 with a challenge, because my other character—it will be a kind of persona. He already has some heroic gear . So it will be mostly a solo experience, right? This is just me, trying to get through the game solo to level 130. Now the thing is, not everything can be done solo , right? There will be some missions and tasks that we will want to complete and that may require a group. So we might have to look for a group on the server we play on —Drinal, where I have most of my non- FV characters. And we will act like this . So, I plan to visit random areas after school. And then we’ll figure out what’s what , right? So let’s get started. We are going to undergo training. Let’s try to learn in one video. OK. Let’s see how it goes, okay? It’s here. And we will play as a shaman. This will be fun. And let’s go down here. Oho. Let’s look at this. Say hello to him. Come here. Take the sword. I won’t read anything. I know you’re saying, “Oh, Hamrock, in your last video it took you four episodes to get through the training.” Yeah, well, we won’t do that this time . I hope everything goes much faster today. And hopefully I can just click through most of this and mark everything up really quickly. We are going to hire a mercenary. When we played as Lothar, we couldn’t hire a mercenary. So we’ll hire an aggressive … Oh, [ __ ], wrong one. Pause. In fact, can I hire someone else quickly? We need an apprentice, otherwise we won’t be able to do it . Aggressive, hire. That’s it, I hope . Otherwise, it doesn’t matter. Okay, congratulations to that guy. He will want us to give him the weapon. Give it. Give it to me like this. Ideally. And then say hello to this guy. Click ” OK”. Say hello to him again. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Say hello to him. Click on it. Click ” OK”. OK. Click on it. Take our bag out of the bank so there’s a little more room. I don’t care about money. Honestly, this might be important because we have automatically granted spells. So money is not a big problem at this stage of the game if you have a gold account. So just keep that in mind. Okay, how much longer do we have left here? We need to talk to Elflatterwing. Talk to him. Brothers and sisters. Take his assignment. Close this . Look here. Talk to Friznik about crafts. And I decided to choose an ogre because I think ogres are the best race for soloing as a Shaman. And when I say “solo,” I 100% believe that with a mercenary, it’s still solo. I know some people like to cling to words, calling it ” molo” or some other nonsense. I’m 100% sure this is a solo, right? Anyone can have a mercenary after level 75 on TLP or 85, whatever. It doesn’t matter, does it? If you play this game and don’t box, you’ll most likely be with a mercenary. I just, personally, don’t make any difference between these things . OK. Tell him. Where is he? And Basher Algo, okay. I need to say hello to her. Accept. Say hello to her again. Accept, accept, accept, accept, accept. Select an option. This will give us a clickable item that will allow us to run faster. I cleaned most of the panel, but not all of it, so there’s still a lot of junk here. I copied the layout from my other character to make it easier to customize. OK. Yes, yes, yes, talk to Patonon. I already spoke to Patonon. What? I didn’t get it credited. What kind of fool? I guess I didn’t do it. OK. We need to talk to Ledrot to find out about the bank. I guess I didn’t press “ok” enough in my conversation with him. Okay, and talk to Mackenzie Jr. about the ogres. Okay, let’s go talk to… Wait, let’s say hello first. Accept. Hello again. Say hello to you. Accept. Okay, perfect. Okay, our mercenary is in aggression mode. So, we’re just going to We’re just going to hit everything in a row, right? Uh, I don’t need everything at once . I don’t care. Not sure what we’re doing here yet. Uh, we just kill, so we need them to attack us. So the mercenary gets down to business. Uh, if we press… Let’s press Ctrl + A, and then here. I think it’s this one . We should have an ” open” button, which I’ve never done before. Uh, we’ll just put it here so you can click “open” on these things, okay? Now we’re going to attack all these rats. We don’t have, we don’t have a damage spell yet, right ? So we have to fight in close combat, right? Uh, now it’s an auto skill. Uh, the “hit” auto skill. Ideally. That’s it, the third level. And we continue on. Uh, what do we have? Almost done with this. And with that. Okay, that’s settled. We talked to him. Greetings. He will give us a task. Greetings, lesson. I’m listening. We do this, open the bag, it’s there. Then we go here, put it in our polished stick. We greet him again . We press “okay”, ” okay”, “okay”. Okay, I think we’ve got that sorted . Well, now let’s cook that rat. What do we need here? We need another rat and I can’t see it. That’s two more bats. Okay, perfect. And everything goes much faster, because there’s nothing, you know…I said there’s nothing in education , but then some guy appears. OK. Well , we’re going to open and rob the backpack. We need arrows for another task. We need to get these things with the pests, so we just click “open” . Open. That’s it. I do n’t need them . Okay, we need two more pest nests. Here, there are two more. Here’s one. What is this ? Eight? Eight. Gives us bags, and here’s another one right here. I literally can’t click on it. That’s it. Okay, talk to uh, Wujian Ding to sell our loot, and talk to Velardan at the slave camp. OK. So, let’s go up here. Sell it to her. No, not her. To this guy. Just talk to him, sell the loot, everything we have, we can…And where are you? Venara. Here she is. There is such a thing. We should get some pants. Okay, everything is going fast. Okay, let’s talk to Alurara, or whatever his name is , Arius. Oh, I’m already here. Say hello to him. Let’s do this, which will give us…an amulet. Okay, let’s hire a mercenary and then talk to this guy again. It seems we didn’t do that. Greetings. Congratulations. Okay, done. Now, we need another kobold infiltrator. This is where the infiltrators are located. We need to make sure we kill those two people in training. Oho. Okay , this will go pretty quickly. And let me see. Yes, I think when we get to level three or four, the pet will become stronger. Okay, that’s good. Okay, let’s tell him we were able to kill someone with the help of a mercenary. We can choose it as a target. Say hello and click “OK” again. Okay . Now let’s see. He will give us something else. That’s it. We got another assignment from her, and he has two more to give. He wants one of these arrows. Let’s give it to him . Perfectly. And, perhaps, that’s all. Throw it there. OK, click OK on them. Perfectly. It seems we’ve caught up . Right now we’re going through this as fast as we can, considering we don’t have any external buffs or anything like that. So this will be as fast as I can. I can do it, but you know, it doesn’t matter. Theoretically, I could go buy… ” explosive fire” from that merchant, and it would probably be worth it, but that means I have to stop to do it, right? I’m letting the mercenary do most of the work now, okay? This will be the case for the next 40 levels. Let’s just…I’ll just spoil what the battle looks like on the ” live” server, okay? You know, you…That’s it. We got the level. We attack the spider tamer because we need him for one of the quests. He’ll give us… I think it’s a vial of antidote right there. And then we need the cocoon silk, so we’ll have to do that. Well, because. Is this something wrong with me or what? What is going on here? That’s it. Okay, we need this. Accept. These are craft items, so we just sew them like this. Shvah, and we have a personalized helmet, yes, personalized. Here are the chain bracelets. Now we can put them on. Here. I don’t think they give more than one valer in the tutorials. That’s it. Perfectly. Now we get eight, open it. We throw on needle noses. So, the spider cave has been updated. We roll eight on them. Another. Do we have a quest for the one who is watching? Yes. Okay. We need to kill four of them. So you can do it right now. And move on. Good. So, I’ll try to fit all of that into the first episode. And for the next one, we’ll choose a random zone for our level using my site. And that’s where we’ll go. So here’s how I’ll do it. And then we’ll just be, you know , a solo shaman, right? I think the shaman is one of the top five classes for solo play. I think classes with students will be a little better than others . But at the same time, maybe we will be surprised ourselves, and everything will be a little different . But that’s it. Let’s leave this garbage here. What do we need? We need many more spiders like this. Aha. We continue. We don’t have the quest to kill the queen yet. So I’ll have to come back for it later. But what do we get? 10% for… Now, when is this video being recorded? October 17. So, that means we’re approaching Extra Life very soon, early or mid- November, right? So we’ll try to make the most of it, right? Realistically speaking, this will be a weekly series, so I’ll probably be ahead of schedule, right? I don’t write this down every week. I write, you know, a few a day. And I plan to use the weekend to catch up on some things, right? If I, say, get into a character and make, well, 10 videos in a day, sitting here for 10 hours, right? I only make hour-long videos. Uh , I’ll break them up , you know, adding them on weekends to speed up their release, but, you know, it all depends on how it goes, but I like to show everything. I don’t like to cut, you know, things that maybe shouldn’t be cut, because when I do, someone says, “Hey, why did n’t you show me how you did it, huh?” “Why didn’t you show me how you raised the bar here, huh?” ” You know, show me your grind, huh?” And uh, etc., so it’s one of those things that I personally have a hard time doing, although I know some people might just uh show it, but I like to show everything to answer all the questions before they’re even asked, you know? Uh, let’s see. Let’s take this. A. It seems we’re fighting this guy. Can you, can you handle him? Open this. That’s it. And then click on this. Okay, so we’re delivering four right now. And we go back to those guys. And I think that’s all I know. We’ll have to go back and kill the queen, but that’s a minor thing. OK. But I, I, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time . I used to, I think, pass for a shaman back when I was playing on my own custom emulator, you know? I think I was a necromancer and then I passed for a shaman and I had fun and uh , I hope that uh this is somewhat reminiscent of that experience because that’s where I’d like to go back to, you know? There is a quest for this. Take the ingot to her. And the silk is here. What is it exactly? Silk cocoon. It seems we got more of them than we needed. Pay. Now we get our tunic. Ideally. Perfectly. OK. Now we should be able to say hello to him. No. Say hello to you? No. OK. I think we’re done with him. Uh, let’s go kill the queen, and then we can move on to the next section, where there are more kobolds and such. But we, we move on. Uh, obviously the mercenary is very, very helpful here. Now, uh , you know, you know, the question arises. You chose the ogre, right? And I chose the ogre because of the immunity to frontal stun when playing solo, you know? So, when I play solo , I’ll be less likely to be stunned. Ogre shamans , as far as I know, never gain full immunity to stun. And complete immunity to stun will definitely be very useful for us during solo play, right? We could choose a troll, we could choose an ixar and get regeneration . If I were playing multiple windows, I would probably take one of them. Actually, the Hamrock shaman who was in the second window on the Nomer’gad account seems to be on Yulonak, right? It was a troll , because a troll is better for multi-window play due to regeneration, so you can just spam cannibalize endlessly and get free healing. Regeneration is the most cost-effective healing in the game. And that’s because it’s a racial ability, it doesn’t require mana , right? And you get benefits from this as you level up . This is not that important, but it is worth considering when creating a character. As for me, I want immunity to stun, I want the power of an ogre, right? Here, look at my endurance. I already have 151 stamina units. And I will have maximum health. The Shaman is a stamina-based character, as we use cannibalism to restore mana. In fact, the shaman has unlimited mana because he can use cannibalism and all that. Okay, we can get poison here, right? Okay, I guess I can’t get this to work . Okay, she wants to try again. Okay, she will revive instantly. Come on. Maybe I should get treatment. I don’t know yet. But having more stamina in the early stages really helps, right? Somewhere at level 24, it seems we will have ” cannibalization”. This is around level 24. 23rd, 24th, somewhere around there. This has changed over the years. OK. We have reached level six. Let’s do this. Let’s do this. Let’s walk past this guy. But for me, complete stun immunity is more useful than anything else, because we’ll be taking hits all the way up to level 130, right? We will have a mercenary. We’ll have a pet, but we’ll still get hit, and being stunned could be the difference between life and , well, death. So, you know, it’s definitely something to think about. Now we need to talk to guard Halberd to get the reward for this quest . Now we don’t have to go back , he gives us a helmet. And gave us healing potions. Cure this. Shamans now also gain alchemy. So we’ll do a little alchemy as we go. Well, that’s another thing . Uh, what else? Maybe I already have alchemy pumped up, I mean, on another character. So maybe this isn’t something that we’re going to have to do from scratch, but it’s something that we’re going to do, because we’re going to need alchemical potions for clarity, alchemical potions for spirituality, which is regeneration, and health. We don’t need regeneration potions because we can cast this spell ourselves. But we still, you know, have to put in a little effort, right? Now I’ll switch to treatment for a second. I just realized I have 35%. And, you know, at 300 health, that’s quite a lot, but, you know, we need to keep doing this . I think we were automatically given a few spells. So, we have a spirit… It wo n’t be very useful , let’s see. So, we have “Sicken” , “Frost Rift” . We have several spells. Let’s take this. Let’s make “Cobalt Scar” . Good. Do it. Have I already received better treatment? Er…no, I didn’t get it. Strengthening characteristics. And “Spirit of the Bear”. What is this? “Gloom Chain Gauntlets” I don’t have any gloves . Let’s pick them up. Let’s never pick up this garbage. And what else do we have? We have “Slow”. I don’t care about that now. Maybe we should add “Sicken” to our panel. And… Let ‘s look here. What kind of spell is this? ” Cold Frost Rift” . Let’s use it. Now, as I said, it’s only at levels past 20 that we get our first regeneration, our first cannibalization spell. So it’s going to be a little slow, but I don’t plan on it…my other character is level 130, right? He has completed most of the quests, most of the cases are completed. He’s pretty…he’s pretty pumped. Well, that’s another thing . So, I’m not going to use his “Jaina’s Veil” . I’m not going to use his top mounts until we get to the appropriate eras, okay ? This is one of the limitations. So the only thing I’ll have when I change my character at level 40 is heroic stats and stuff like that, but for me that’s the benefit of creating a persona, although it’s actually much more important here, at levels 1-20, because it gives a few hundred health points. But at level 40 without gear I only have about 2500 health points and I’m pretty sure I’ll be close to that when I reach that level, but right now I probably just need to heal. This happens so often. Well, let’s see. We need to kill the Overseer. Um, a bunch of others, several captains. Okay, I’ll make sure everything’s okay. But I think it’s going to be an interesting series because we’re going to get to a point where it gets pretty challenging, and it’s going to be fun. Because how is a shaman going to go through something solo? Well, let’s be realistic. There are things that are quite difficult to get through solo. But we’ll see how it all ends in the end. Another chain bracelet, hap. Now, let’s just continue our journey here. Now it looks like we are holding a weapon in both hands, but that is not the case. The way personas work now is that things just end up in the other hand. Like, it just happens. Aha. It ‘s probably an improvement, but not worth it. That’s it. Now, the downtime will be, you know, a little bit longer until we get the higher-level stuff. Well, we just reached level seven, so things are going pretty fast , right? It’s not that slow. Okay, we can say hello to this guy. We will have quest one and two. We got them both, right? Say hello to him. Say hello to him. He will give us two more. There you go . Okay, so we have a lot of things. I think we can go down here. Slave overseers seem to be on the list. At least I think so . Slave Slave overseers, five. Okay, great. Okay, I’ll step back and apply a little treatment. We have reached level seven. Did it say what we received? Spiritual sight, healing blindness, and so on. Garbage . Now, the ability to automatically get up to level 120 seems like it would be just fantastic for us . We can never get it wrong . This will save us about 2 million platinum. Well, plus and minus. Maybe around 1.5, but it will save us a bunch of platinum, a bunch of extra farming that we don’t want to do, and all that. I don’t plan on playing multiple windows with this character. But if suddenly it has to be, it will be a passive window, not an active one, you understand? Uh-huh , go, go. So, what does this mean? This means that my main character will remain the Shaman. That is, it won’t be a melee character that I have to constantly position. It won’t be a tank or anything like that. This would be something that complements Shaman so I could just go to another screen and press a button, right ? It’s, you know, probably something like a Necromancer or a Mage. I think Beastmaster would need too much work for the playstyle I chose. But I still don’t plan on doing it. That’s it , that’s the most important thing, right? I don’t plan on it, but I don’t want to close myself off from moving forward and doing something, right? This, this is the most important thing in this whole thing. OK. Can I actually sit down? Is this guy so cool that he can hold aggro? I think he, I think he should be able to, right? You see, he doesn’t even take damage, right? That’s how crazy they are. So , I should just sit back while he does all the work and try to recover some mana. Now we need the Locksmith for his key, so let’s just beat him up. And in general, ideally, I don’t plan to play this character because of the “root rotting” tactic ( immobilization and gradual exhaustion ). This is how I play as a Necromancer. I feel like with this guy, with this mercenary tank, you know? I’ll be able to play the way I’m playing now, throwing dot on mobs, slow on mobs, and keeping this guy alive, right? I feel like that’s how I’ll be able to play, but to be honest , I’m not 100% sure. I mostly played, I mostly play this game with multiple windows, you know? I only recently started playing solo and I don’t use the extra windows for anything. So, this will definitely be interesting for me to see, and maybe for you too. And let’s see what we can do without , well, doing that, right? What the hell? This looks strange. Well, close the tab. Oh, I know what it is because I copied Hemlocks from Tawnies, right? Yes. She, she had a text running there. Well, I have my own custom parser that I will use for this series. I just did n’t have time to prepare it for today. And this will allow us to see If you’ve seen my videos on EverQuest Legends, this is the same parser, only it’s made specifically for EverQuest logs alone, not for additional things in EverQuest Legends, so. We will, we will use it as ours, as our parser and all that, moving on when we get to that point. Now I need to focus on these barrels as much as possible , because backpacks and other bags fall out of them, and we’ll need them. Here, you see, there’s a backpack, there’s another one just like it , and here’s this. Yes? So it’s pretty smart to make sure we do that. We just collect them like this. And with a hotkey it’s much easier. Much easier. I ‘m collecting loot from that. So , where did it go? Well, the bags won’t be a problem, in my opinion, because the other character has bags, and by the time we get to that point , it won’t be a big deal. So , I might take, I might take the bag , just to get a little bit more inventory to progress faster. I still have no mana. It’s just, you know, I played EverQuest for so long, I played Legends for a really long time, and now that I’m back to it, I have terrible mana regeneration, and it’s a little annoying sometimes , but I’m getting used to it because I’m playing more Gnomeregan and for this guy. So hopefully I can get back on track and all that. I’ll leave it at that. G. Oh, here’s a backpack. G. So we’ll throw “need” at them. Let’s see here. Twenty-five. Let’s see how much damage this thing does . I don’t even know where my spell damage is. 27 damage, not bad. Not bad at all . That’s all. So we can take this, this, this and this . And we can take this backpack and replace those with it. And these are rough found boots. Let’s leave them where they are for now. Okay, we keep moving here. We’re trying to get this thing with butterfly wings now. Which , uh, should solve this? Where is she? Up here? Here it is. So I’ll let the mercenary finish her off. I’ll sit right here. So it will be a three-way battle . And as long as we have mana, everything should be fine, because we can heal, right? So this will be, uh, a real test. I’m going to remove something from my panel. Um , I can close this window. Close this. Let’s move this around here and then close it. That’s it. OK. Alt W. Let’s get rid of this mail. And we are ready. Okay, at 34% mana, I don’t think that’s enough. This thing is yellow. He’s pretty strict, right? I think he killed, uh , he killed me on, uh , normal level, so I, I’ll wait with that. Uh, but he was definitely a weaker character because he didn’t have a mercenary, right? Okay, so let’s turn up the “Inner Fire.” “Bear Spirit.” Let’s sit down again. Are we already at level eight? No, not yet. We are almost at level eight. So, everything will be fine. Eh, let’s see . Yes, yes, to the north. It seems that at level eight we will get ” Wolf Spirit”, uh, if I’m not mistaken. Maybe on the ninth. OK. This should be enough. “To cause illness.” Now I will infect you with a disease. Oh, don’t tell me he’s running away. Oh, okay. I was about to say he’d be a coward if he ran away. Here, this one. I am perfect. Oh, I, I’m attacking these hells to get rid of them faster, but I don’t know who he’s attacking, so. Let him do it. Let me make sure I do that. So, if I make him the main tank, he will provoke enemies more. And if I put myself here as the chief assistant, I will be able to control him better . I will treat myself. OK. Now you see that he is taking damage. He’s at 94%, but his regeneration is so high that he’ll be able to hold his own here, so it’s not that bad. Now he’s losing it. Let’s put ” Disease” on it again. OK. I’m out of mana right now, so we’ll just sit for a few minutes, recovering. Not so bad. OK. So, after we kill these, we need to kill the warrior and two more slave overseers on the way back . And we need to go to another cave. Besides, the captains seem to be in another cave, so we’ll get to them too. OK. I don’t know what some of these skills are, so I’ll just remove them from my panel. Um , and I think I have all of these on another character, so I’ll just leave them as is, because I’ll copy the entire interface from here to the other version when we get to level 40. That’s it. So, we got this. We received a staff. Uh, we don’t need level eight. They gave us “Infected Breath ” and “Beast Talisman”, which increases strength. We don’t need that, and that too. “Infected Breath” is a poison with periodic damage. You should study it. Shamans have poison, pain, and magical periodic effects, which are their specialization, and later they get combo spells that combine some of them . So that’s really cool. Okay, let’s use Infected Breath on this guy. And he still doesn’t use a weapon in both hands. I think at level 10 he will start using two weapons and deal a little more damage. But it’s holding up well, so I’m happy with its results. I’m just going to keep attacking this guy. Okay, ” The Gloomy Iron Bracer.” We won’t need it. Okay, 6.9% experience. Still not bad. And I don’t think there’s any experience bonus or anything like that right now. It seems to be a Halloween event. There are a few Halloween quests that can be completed, but I don’t think we’re high enough level for them. So it will take some time. Well , that’s it. Now you can start getting out of here. Yes, we need a slave overseer, so we’ll beat him up now . And let’s take his breath away. And this is the ” Master’s Castle.” He’s probably going to hide. Aha. I’ll just sit back, restore my mana while my little pet does all the work. And we get somewhere between one silver and two golds for a kill, which is pretty good. How many do we have there? Five gold , five platinum at this point. So, it’s not that bad. Okay, we need another Slave Overseer and another Warrior on the way from here. And we , probably, we, probably, will manage. Just trying to make sure everything else is set up correctly. Come on. That’s it. Okay, we don’t need that, but we can take the loot. Okay, let ‘s just go right through here. Oh my god, I’m stuck on the wall. Ah, so close. Now, one cool thing is that the Shaman can create illusion potions. So if I want to look like a dwarf, I can run like a dwarf shaman. So, we’ll probably put in a little effort to make a few of those. To get a little illusion. We don’t get a reduction to level 15, so we have to run pretty big, but what can we do . And we don’t lose the ogre racial feature when we use illusion. So now we have that advantage. I did n’t get anything from it . Honestly , I’m just trying to find backpacks right now. So, here is the slave overseer. We need another one. Ideally. Okay, I’m going to Yes, I’m going to, I’m actually going to sit down. I think recovery is more important now, because it will speed up the next overlord fight, which we’re heading towards now to complete that part of the zone. And I’ll definitely need mana for this, because it’ll be a fight with several enemies, but I think the mercenary here will do most of the work. Most of it is easy. Let me take a look. What? Okay, they’re all wrong there , I just realized my numeric keypad is set up differently here. They are all on the number one key. I’ll put this on number two. I’m not 100% sure, probably when I copied the interface here from another computer. The keys didn’t hold up as well as I wanted. I don’t know. I’m sure this guy is doing it. Come on. So, let’s give the key to this guy. Which gives us gloves. Which are better than those. Good. Then we can replace it. And we should replace the quiver. Because a whole bunch of arrows fit in a quiver, and it costs one platinum, so it’s worth getting rid of it. Okay . I have a hat. Oh, that guy looks like he’s boxing something. Okay, let’s check these barrels here. And this one right here. Do we need a slave overseer? I don’t think we need them anymore. Good. We only need these goblin slaves. So, let’s take care of them. That’s it. Let the mercenary do most of the work. Oh, man. It’s like you’re in a group, right? But uh, he’s even stupider. So, we need to kill nine more of these slaves plus What else? Captains. We need captains. The captains are in another room, so let’s go there. We’re heading there. Uh, because goblins, unless we get down and deal with them quickly. There are not many of them there. That’s it. Come on. Okay, let ‘s get up here . And the other corridor is right here. I’m trying to check all these barrels along the way. Uh, I hope to find backpacks. Backpacks cost eight gold, and of course we could buy one right now, but I’d rather uh I’d rather not. A random name I’ve never seen before. Eh, that’s pretty cool. It’s a shame nothing falls out of it, right? But uh, it’s still funny. Good. Give me a powerful blow. Boom. Okay, what did we get? Junk. Do it. Still with two weapons. Er, not yet with two weapons. Uh , I think we’re right here. We’ve already cleaned it up. Let’s go down and kill the goblins. There’s a goblin cave there. Uh, I think it’s the one in front of us. Then we’re going to uh we’re going to want to deal with the goblins inside. Kill the named one while we’re here. Yes, you see. Because we need six more of these, and then the one named, which should be at the end of this cave. Then we can go back and into that other corridor over there. I think this would be the smartest way. Okay, I’ll treat myself. So, for some reason, I take this goblin’s blow on myself . That’s it, he switched to me. And I think that with the leveling up we will be able to get better equipment for the mercenary. And that should help the mercenary start dancing part of it, and I think it’ll be pretty funny. Honestly , I think it would be pretty funny. If I can keep my characters alive with a shaman in a separate window, then I can play as a shaman and keep a mercenary alive, right? That’s it, level nine. What do we get here? Wolf spirit and light healing, so let’s choose speed. This will significantly speed up the process. And this will be treatment, easy treatment. So, now we have a better treatment option. It will be a little better to treat and all that . Perfectly. Now let’s put the spirit of the wolf on ourselves. And let’s also go for a mercenary, because this will allow him to enter battle faster . Let’s go here. How much do we have? Seven out of 10? OK. Perfectly. Now, do we need mana for healing? But soon we will become a huge blue berry, which is quite fun. That’s all. The mercenary got the spirit of a wolf. And you see that we run much faster, speeding up the whole process. OK. It might take a little over an hour. But we’re almost done, are n’t we? Once we’re done with that, all we have to do is blow that up. This will allow you to knock out this, this, this and this. They’re all in the same section, so we’ll deal with them quickly. That named enemy, that will be the last slave, and then we will kill him. I don’t know why it’s slowing down, but something is definitely wrong. The goblin has a really cool spell animation that I had n’t noticed before. Looks pretty cool. Okay, and we’re still getting a good experience. Perhaps there is some kind of bonus to experience. I don’t know. OK. Garbage and trash. We’re getting out of here. Now we’ll have to return to that scout to complete the task. So we’ll do it on the way from the next area. That’s all. So, we need four captains. So we ‘ll ignore anything that isn’t a captain , as far as I’m concerned. Besides the barrels. Because here is the captain. And did we get one? Yes, oh, we got a backpack. Here we are. So, uh, we’ll just replace the first one here, right? And when we get more, we’ll replace them all. Well, okay . Well, because. I like that there is no delay here. I’ll take this now. I’ll come over here. And I’ll give it to this one. This completes the quest. That gave us another backpack somewhere in there. Here, hold it. The space in the bag has increased by four slots. Okay, that’s good. Now we should be able to get in here. And let’s go in here. Okay, there’s going to be a whole lot of fighting here. But theoretically, Bob will take care of everything here . Let him, uh, let him do all the work. Okay, I’m going to take a nap . I am an ogre. That’s it, man. I wonder if it’s possible to find an ogre tank mercenary? I’ve never tried the ogre mercenary, but, uh, maybe I’ll give it a try . Or should we take, like, uh… Well, that’s when we get out of here, right? Like, we have to choose one. Take an ogre mercenary or maybe a frog mercenary, like he’s his little assistant that he drags around everywhere and makes work, right? So, interesting. You know, leave a comment below if you think my mercenary should be, and I’ll, uh, take that into consideration when we get to the Knowledge Plane to choose a mercenary. I’m not going to keep the person around all the time. I don’t …I don’t like him that much. That’s it. Not so bad. This guy doesn’t fall at all . Bad breath. Now we got 5% for the last one. Now we’re getting a good aim, you know, skill here. So that will help us a little bit, but, uh, we’re definitely, uh, out of mana after two dota 2s , right? Uh, ogre is one of the classes with the lowest wisdom for, uh, a shaman. And you see, we have 143 there, but that’s thanks to all that ” defiant” armor we got along the way . Okay, looks good. Perfectly. He is almost dead. We don’t have the mana to recast it yet, so we’ll just let it go. Oh, he doesn’t even fight with that. Who did he fight with, someone else? I didn’t even…I did n’t even notice it. He’s just, you know, doing his job. That’s it. Okay, we got the sphere, some junk we don’t need, and some more junk. Well, that completes a lot of tasks. We only have two captains left at the exit. And it seems we’ve almost done everything . Let’s see. I’ll put this on the panel. That’s it. Let’s find the captain. And here is one nearby. He is infected. What do we have there? And more food. Okay, let’s sit down and rest. By the way, if you didn’t know, ogres eat more than other races, as do halflings, so keep that in mind. And when you buy food. You may need more than you think. OK. One. And here is our last captain, we will soon be done with this . OK. And no bags. So I’ll give it all up…buy the backpacks when I get to town. It seems that backpacks are sold in Crescent Reach or Plane of Knowledge . So everything should be fine. That’s it. And we’re done. OK. Let’s get out of here. Actually. No, not at all. I don’t even know what we’re getting because everything is collected automatically, right? Okay. So let’s go back to these guys, give them the quests. And then you have to return to the main area and hand those in too. And that should complete everything except the final boss. We can quickly deal with this . Okay. So we welcome you. That’s it. We got level 10. We received the bracelet, and now we greet you. And then…okay. We need to go to the other guards . Where are they? They are still there. OK. And here it is . Now we have level 10. We didn’t pick up anything. We need to check, right? Greeting. Okay, we got our mace, a new melee weapon. Well, here it is. We also received a bracelet. Which we already put on, and also boots, I don’t know why he didn’t put them on. That’s it. There are some minor graphics defects, they should fix them, but I won’t say anything. Okay, now let’s say hello to him. Okay, now we need to go down to the center, kill the leader of the pit, and then when we get back to the city, we’ll hand over all this good. Okay, you can jump here. And then, it seems, we need to jump down here. Oh. Do you want to fight? Seriously? Okay, so after reaching level 10, the mercenary now fights with two weapons. So he uses two weapons instead of one, and we see that he hits a little harder, 18 points of damage each, almost non-stop. We are fine. You see all these dead people because of the boss right here. Now I’ll quickly take a screenshot for a preview before we kill it. I think it would look cool. That’s it. Maybe another one like this . Oh, aiming. Ideally. And now we’re just going to fill it up. So, do we have enough mana for ” Infected Breath”? Yes , that’s enough. Okay, let’s begin. We did our damage, right? “Infected Breath” now deals 15-16 damage per tick, which is not bad, right? It’s no match for the close combat there. It does its job, but somewhere around level 130 we’ll be doing 2 million critical hits , so it’ll be great. Certainly. Certainly. This thing has a lot of health . Hopefully we’ll get enough mana to cast another damage over time effect towards the end. No, not yet. Yes, let’s do it here. Let’s turn on automatic retrieval. Not that it will do anything at this level, but just in case we find something. That’s it. Okay, two damage effects. This is all we have . This is all we have. Are you okay? Come on. I’ll update the buffs. Oh, that’s it. Good. He is dead. Got something there. We have reached level 11. 23%, 23%, and then 11%. Yes, we are leveling up pretty quickly. Let’s go back and get out of here. And let’s go give it to Flutterwing. But I will check all these barrels . Good. Here is the solution. Did we get another one? Did I get another backpack? Good. It seems like we completed the quest automatically just by coming here. This is cool. Let ‘s go up here. And here’s Flutterwing right here. And we will give him the egg. That’s it. Done. And then we return to Araeus. Let’s heal him . And this concludes our study. And uh yeah, well we’re done here. So we could have left here all this time, right? Well, of course, it’s kind of a joke. Uh , all you have to do is come back here and jump out of the cave. And we will run away to Nora. But, that’s all. This, this is the first episode. I, uh, have a little over an hour of video. Maybe there’s a little bit that can be cut out here and there, but for the most part, I seem to have been talking the whole time, so I usually don’t cut anything out if I’m talking. Eh, but that’s what this series is going to be about. We’re playing solo to max level without a hero’s journey, because we’ll be doing it in No Man’s Land, unless we get a zone, like if I make a random pick and we end up in Crescent Reach, we can do some quests there, but I don’t really plan on it. But this will be an ogre series. We’ll go through whatever random zones we get from here on out , and then at level 41 we’ll switch to my other character, who I think will be naked. I’m not sure, unless I have an item to trade. He’ll start out naked, we’ll continue like that, re-farming gear and doing whatever we need to do as we go along, but the next episode will be in a completely random area, and I have no idea what it will be . If there’s anything you want us to check out on the way to level 130, anything you think might be interesting to see from a shaman’s perspective, leave a comment below and we’ll check it out. Uh, but thank you so much for watching and have a fantastic day.
