Difficulty two in eleven minutes, after difficulty one went by unrecorded because it was too easy to think about. Shoulders he did not know existed turn out to be the upgrade.

Short, because the fight is. Difficulty one had already fallen easily enough that I forgot to record it, and two follows on the back of a handful of upgrades from the earlier kills. The interesting parts are the decision not to stack resists at all, a Shadowknight bug that is quietly steering his whole class plan, and the clearest statement yet of why he does these solo.

The Fight

Outlast the mana bar.

  • Put him against a wall, then move him off it when the positioning stops helping.
  • Sit in Overchannel so the bard songs land, with Defensive underneath.
  • Complete Heal at around 65%, one cast, then straight back into the melody.
  • The whole plan is to whittle him down while he wastes mana. He is not landing enough to threaten you and he empties fast.
  • He gets more dangerous below about 10%, which is the only point in the fight that demands attention.
  • On difficulty one he did nothing at all except root repeatedly, which is worth knowing before you over-prepare.

The near death was self-inflicted. I talk through the last few percent, burn mana recovering, and end up clicking Promised Renewal at 2%.

Skipping Resists on Purpose

A deliberate call, with reasons.

  • I carry no resist gear or buffs beyond the Cleric song and whatever the gear happens to give.
  • Innoruuk does not dispel, so nothing you put up gets stripped and there is no arms race to lose.
  • He runs out of mana quickly, which caps the total magic damage the fight can produce.
  • His biggest hits were around 700, an Ice Comet and a Mana Detonation, against a 6,300 hit point pool.
  • So the slot is better spent elsewhere. Stacking resists here trades real stats for a threat that is not materialising.

Why Not Shadowknight

A bug, not a preference.

  • Shadowknight life taps are not healing properly. A critical life tap heals only the base damage, so the crit is thrown away.
  • I already have a Shadowknight at 50 and am parking it rather than building around it until that is fixed.
  • Warrior and Shadowknight are my only primary options, which with the bug leaves Warrior by default.
  • Bard is my favourite class and would have been the main, but Bards cannot be Gnomes and Gnome was the plan.
  • There are no alts on the beta or test server, so the six characters he wanted for six builds are not possible.

Upgrades, and Why Solo

The shoulders were a surprise.

  • The shoulders are the find. I did not know they dropped, and 13 to several stats plus 42 hit points and mana is a real gain.
  • The mask went to plus four, with a spare ring and belt that changed nothing.
  • This kill gave up a bracer, pauldrons and a necklace, plus a Ranger epic piece.
  • I prefer soloing raids to bringing eight people, which I find boring by comparison, and solo takes more attention, which is the appeal rather than the obstacle.
  • I call this the boss killing build: moderate damage rather than high, but if I survive, the target dies.
  • Lockout timers survived the patch, leaving about six days on one of them.

Beta footage, recorded before launch reset the numbers. Sky was still uninstanced at this point, with a bug on Sister Island giving loot to only one person, which is why the build testing happens in Hate instead.

Hello and welcome to Everquest Legends beta. Today we’re going to fight Innoruuk, the Prince of Hate, on difficulty two. I just killed difficulty one and I didn’t even think about recording it. Uh it was rather easy. Now I got an upgrade on my mask here. I upgraded to plus four. Uh I got another ring, but it didn’t really matter. Uh and I got another belt, didn’t really matter. Uh and then I got shoulders. Uh so these are actually pretty nice. I didn’t know these were even a thing, but uh 13 to some stats there and uh 42 hit points and mana is a pretty good, so uh we’re you know we’re doing pretty well. We’re at 6300 hit points. We’re at uh 368 82 depending on how you want to calculate that AA wise and then uh we are uh still using the same weapons, so uh uh this will go interesting. I Oh, he’s already He’s already going crazy. All right. Right over here. All right, let’s get him against the wall. Now we’re in defensive. We’re over channel right now. You’ll see uh over channel channel’s letting my bard songs uh land on there, so we’re just going to kind of go with that. About 65% I’m going to complete heal. So like one more hit, there we go. And then back into the chance. Now uh when I just fought him, like literally I fought him on D1 and he did not He did not do anything casting wise. He just like rooted me over and over again. It was hilarious. Mana detonation. Let’s get him away from the wall there. I didn’t I like avoided all the trash I could. Ice comet. Lovely. Lovely to send an ice comet at me, but uh I I didn’t I’m not doing any resist or anything right now. And my song is just uh you know, I have full, you know, cleric resist, whatever I get from that, plus my gear, which puts me at a pretty decent amount. So, like I feel like it’s kind of a waste to go too heavy into uh to resist on this guy just because one, he’s not dispelling me. Two, the spells he’s casting, he’s going to run out of mana uh really quick. And he’s not even landing like a lot of damage, right? He did get a 700 ice comet. He got a 704 mana detonation, right? He’s not really landing a lot of, you know, a lot of damage, right? So, what we’re doing is we’re we’re just trying to sit here and whittle him down as far as [snorts] we can uh while he wastes his mana, right? So, we’re at 51% uh you know, and then back up to full. Now, I I’ve gotten a few comments uh about all my videos being warrior cleric bard. Now, I do plan on playing warrior cleric bard as my character on uh on live, but I do plan on making lots of other characters. Not like characters, but other loadouts, right? Same loadout, different thing. The The biggest issue I have right now is that Sky is not instanced, so that I can’t I can’t just go in there and farm Sky all day uh without like, you know, running into people. And there’s like an issue right now with Sister Island where only one person gets loot. It’s a whole thing, right? And I personally just don’t want to waste my time doing that, right? With 7 days, you know, maybe it’s like 7 or 8 days uh maybe 2 weeks left in the beta before it goes into open beta, right? And then it’s a different server. Uh but I’m I’m trying out different builds. Now, I was going to go with Shadow Knight. Uh then uh they did something to Shadow Knight. Uh like I already have 50 50 Shadow Knight, right? I already leveled one up. Uh but there is there’s currently a bug with Shadow Knights where their life taps are not healing uh uh ample. It’s not a very ample number, right? It’s It’s a very sad number. And so uh with that, like I I’m not going to probably waste my time on trying to do that because so like if you if you get a crit life tap, you’re only getting hit for the killed for the base damage. Uh and I think there’s something else going on with it. So, it’s a major, you know, downgrade right now. Uh you know, once they fix that, it’ll definitely be better. Uh and I was think I was So, I was thinking to do uh Shadow Knight Berserker or something, right? Maybe Cleric or uh something else. So, uh but I’m really limited right now to Warrior and Shadow Knight primary. So, Warrior and Shadow Knight have to be my build. And I like Bard. Like Bard is like my favorite class. And I would you know, I would have went Bard main in in actuality, but uh uh they can’t be going to Gnomes, which I was going for this one. I was planning on I was planning on making like six alts to all do all the different builds I wanted to do. Uh but uh there’s no alts on the beta server or test server. So, uh that is just how it is. Woof, look at that. He hit me hard there. Let’s get uh Let’s get that back. Uh add you on. Uh but you do it’s It is what it is, right? It is uh definitely uh you know, it’s a fun combo. Woof, I don’t want to die here. There we go. Jeez. All right. Uh It’s my melody. Uh but yeah, he’s at 20%. so it’s a fun combo. Now, if there’s another combo you’d like to see that involves a warrior, uh, let me know. Now, I do have, uh, you know, here’s all my loadouts that I have currently leveled. Some people have told me to try a warrior cleric enchanter and I might try that. Now, I have all day, uh, I’m recording this on Oh god. >> [laughter] >> Jeez. I got to stop talking. Oh my gosh. Did I Did I even get PR on 7 seconds? What the hell? Why is it so long? There we go. Oh my god. I got to stop I got to I got to stop talking. Hold on. We’re going to focus. We’re going to focus for a second. Jeez. I don’t know. 7% almost. I took a lot of mana to recover from that, but, uh, he seems to be doing more damage here at this lower, uh, lower health. 3% uh, let’s see here. 2% promise renewal and 1% There we go. Awesome. All right, so that is difficulty two and a rook, right? We got some What we get here? We got a nice allure equipped bracer there. Look at that thing. Oof, look at that. And then we got a paldrons we can up shoulders we can upgrade those, I think. I might just directly merge those and then we got the uh, ranger epic thing and then we got Oh, look at this necklace. Oh my gosh. Oh, all right. Let’s, uh, let’s get a screenshot for the thumbnail, right? Uh, got to do that. Oh, like so. I think that’s funny right there. All right. So, definitely uh you know, not that challenging uh D2. D3 on the other hand, like I I screwed up there cuz I was yapping too much and I wasted a lot of mana. Now, would that have happened uh would that have happened in D3 and I died? I don’t know. So, uh we’re working towards it. They did not the today was a patch. They did not reset any of the timers. I’m still [laughter] I’m about a day um what is this? Uh 19 hours on Okay. Whoa, whoa, hold on. Hold on. What? 19 hours on Oh, this is the replay timer. All right. So, where’s where’s H? I need two. Yeah, still six days. So, [laughter] uh yeah, definitely uh going to take a while. So, if there’s a combo you would like to see using a Shadow Knight or a Warrior, uh you know, post down in the comments and I will, you know, start working leveling it up. Now, I have Bard, Cleric, Warrior, Wizard, Shadow Knight, Rogue at 50, Shaman at 47, Necromancer at 43. Um so, I I’m willing to do whatever you whatever you guys want to see. Uh if there’s, you know, some other combo you’d like to see that just didn’t it has to include either a Warrior or a Shadow Knight uh for the time being. Uh once this goes live, I will I will go up to Sky and I’ll unlock every single quest uh while we while we’re streaming stuff. But, there we go. That is difficulty two of Inner Rock. Not too bad for this build. I think this this is going to be my build uh for live unless they totally totally uh do something to it because it feels like it’s it’s the boss killing build, right? It it gets everything done. It does you know, it does moderate DPS, not a lot of DPS, but if I can survive it dies. And uh that’s kind of kind of the thought process I have. I like doing these these raids solo. I don’t like going in with you know, eight people and just killing the thing, right? This is so boring. Right? Uh you know, doing it solo takes a little bit more you know, effort and a little bit more paying attention and stuff like that. So, that’s the way I play.
