Lethar Rulesets UPDATED FAQ
The clarifications that make Lethar a fundamentally different game: every item on the server becomes all/all, epics included, and personal loot pays up to three items per person per kill in a full group.
The studio answered the sentence nobody could parse, and the answer is the larger of the two readings: class, race and deity requirements come off every item on the server, epics included. A Rogue can swing the Warrior epic and a Necromancer can use the Wizard one. Alongside that, the personal loot numbers are now exact, and a full group of six earns three items each on top of what the NPC already dropped.
Every Item Becomes All/All
The clarification, and it is enormous.
- Class, race and deity equip requirements are removed from every item on the server, not just personal loot.
- Epics are included. That is the part that changes the game rather than tuning it.
- So a Rogue can carry the Warrior epic, a Necromancer the Wizard one, an Enchanter epic can haste your pet from a bag, and a Cleric epic can resurrect on any class.
- The 2.0s open up too. The Warrior epic 2.0 is a hate weapon, so a Shadow Knight who wants aggro can just wear it, and a Warrior who wants haste can carry the Monk epic.
- Required levels become recommended levels, as already seen on Frostfell, Fangbreaker and Veeshan's Peak.
- Spells keep their required level to cast, so a clicky with a level requirement on the spell still gates properly.
My reaction on camera: this is fundamentally a change to the game, and it is insane. I said insane twice in as many sentences, and I stand by both.
Exactly How Much Personal Loot
The numbers, corrected on camera.
- Solo: nothing.
- Two or three players: one item each.
- Four or five: two items each.
- A full six: three items each.
- Raid: one each, and only in instanced raid zones.
- The NPC still drops its normal loot on top of all of that.
- Mercenaries do not count toward group size, so it is six real characters or six boxes.
The Rules Around Looting It
Details that decide whether you actually get it.
- You must be in the zone. Offline players do not count toward the amount.
- Dead players still get their loot as long as they are hovering and have not left the zone.
- Fifteen minutes to loot, after which the corpse unlocks and unlooted personal items are destroyed.
- Nobody else sees what you got. Loot messages go only to the person they belong to.
- Advanced loot must be enabled. No advanced loot, no personal loot.
- Your advanced loot filters apply automatically, which can silently leave items.
- Leave or get kicked and you lose access, unless you are back before the corpse unlocks.
What Can and Cannot Roll
Not everything is in the pool.
- Drawn from the standard loot table, not the randomised ones used on Mischief, Teek and Frostreaver.
- Lore items are not checked against your inventory, so you can be handed a duplicate lore item and have to deal with it as usual.
- Non-wearables go through normal master looter: quest drops, keys and spell runes.
- Items the NPC was wearing, or added by a quest, are unlikely to roll, as are items global to all NPCs or an expansion. Expect treasure, not trade skill filler.
- Exclusions happen at the treasure table level, so a single item cannot always be blocked without blocking its whole table.
Mitigation of the Mighty Is Already Off
Which makes the whole back catalogue farmable on day one.
- Mitigation only cares about which expansions are open. Classic raid targets like Lord NagafenEverQuest LegendsLord NagafenLava Dragon WarriorLevel55ZoneNagafen's LairLoc: (-1395, -871)AC470HP32000HP regen23Max hit140 - 300 (?)Per round4 (?)Speed83%SpecialEnrage, Summon, Uncharmable, Unfearable, Unmezzable, Unstunnable, See Invis, Belly Caster, YelinakEverQuestLord YelinakLevel70ZoneSkyshrine and Lady VoxEverQuest LegendsLady VoxLava Dragon ClericLevel55ZonePermafrostLoc: (857, -262)AC470HP32000HP regen17Mana regen17Fire70Disease340Cold1000Magic340Poison340Max hit85-218Per round4 (?)Speed83%SpecialBanish, Dragon Roar, Frost Breath, Complete Heal, Enrage, Summon, Uncharmable, Unfearable, Unmezzable, Unstunnable, See Invis, See-hide, Belly Caster lose it at Gates of Discord, Ruins of Kunark loses it at Dragons of Norrath, and Scars of Velious loses it at Prophecy of Ro.
- Lethar starts on The Serpent's Spine, which is the expansion straight after Prophecy of Ro. All three have therefore already lapsed before anyone logs in.
- So nothing from classic through Velious is mitigated, and with a level cap of 75 you can go back and clear the lot for twink gear.
- Selling it is mostly blocked by no drop, but the attunable raid items are fair game. Blade of Carnage is the example worth knowing.
- Luclin drops its mitigation at Secrets of Faydwer, which lands about twenty weeks from launch.
- Heroic 50 characters are not available at launch, and come after a three month delay.
No Resale Economy
The quiet consequence of attunable.
- Every tradeable equippable item on the server is attunable, whatever its source, and attunes the first time it is equipped.
- Attunable does not override no drop. Items already no drop stay that way.
- Everything else is heirloom because of the legacy character rules, so it still moves between your own characters.
- So gear is used once and never resold, which removes the second hand market almost entirely.
- The volume probably compensates. With this much loot dropping, expect raids stuffed with extra bodies purely to gear people.
I am playing something here. A series on Lethar is planned, but I am not announcing what until I can reserve the name. Bailing on Frostreaver was a Legends decision, and I intend to go back and finish that character too.
What Changed From the First FAQ
- All items become all/all, class, race and deity requirements gone.
- Epics included, usable on any class.
- Required levels become recommended. Spell levels still apply.
- Personal loot: 1 each at 2 to 3, 2 each at 4 to 5, 3 each at 6.
- Raid personal loot is instanced zones only, one each.
- Mercenaries do not count toward group size.
- Fifteen minutes to loot before it is destroyed.
- Everything tradeable is attunable, so there is no resale market.
- No mitigation of the mighty on anything from classic through Velious, from day one.
- Heroic 50s arrive three months in, not at launch.

Hello and welcome to Lothar rule set FAQ updated. Now, they updated this. We did the video, I think, last week. And uh I started getting excited. There’s some There was a hanging comma that was kind of like, “Ooh, what does this mean?” right? And so, they went and clarified some things. Uh just to recap, so this server is going to start on the Serpent’s Spine. 12 weeks later, you get buried sea, and then eight weeks after that, you get a new expansion. You can see all the expansions here. Um you know, it’s uh it’s going to be on uh on retail in October 2029. Uh so, there’s a you know, good progression there. Now, this server has personal loot, and we talked about that. And uh we’re you know, this I think of it as this right down here, this line, which was kind of weird, and trying to see if there’s another one here that was kind of kind of interesting. So, personal loot, you you know, you’re in a group of people, extra loot rolls, you get it personally, right? So, and no one else can get it. And the loot you get is attunable if it’s tradeable, right? So, you can only trade it once, or use it once. So, additionally, all tradeable equipment items are given with the attunable tag, making it uh them attune the first time the item is equipped. And all class class race deity equipment requirements are removed. Now, this was crazy because it like it’s it’s like, “What? What? What does that mean? What?” And then I’m you know, like I asking. Been asking around trying to figure this out. And uh so, the these changes also apply to every single item in the game. Now, uh keep that in mind. We’re going to go through the rest of this uh and then we’ll get back down there, right? There’s way more details. Now, think about that and then think in your head, what does this mean? What does this mean? You know, think of the the Charlie from you know, Sunny in Philadelphia with his little murder board and trying to figure something out, right? Like think about it. Then so the server is going to have legacy characters, right? And you know, you got one max level character, you get a 10% bonus, two you get 20%, so on and so on. Pretty nice. Now, what the legacy character brings is no trade items are become heirloom to your account. So, if you make say a warrior, you play in your little warrior and then you get like some cool item, you want to give it to your cleric, boom, you just put it in your shared bank and your cleric has that cool item, you know, from a raid or whatever. Uh so this is this is pretty interesting. Now, let’s see here what we got going on. Uh personal loot FAQ, I think these are all what was updated. What happens if you get a personal loot item that is lore? Is it just lost or is there logic to not give lore items? There isn’t a check for what items you already have when personal loot is rolled. So, there’s some chance you’ll be given a lore item you already have. You can be dealt with in the same way you normally would deal with it with an NPC dropping a lore item you already have. So, you can get duplicate items of lore that you already have. They’re not removing the lore tag that I’ve been asking for them to remove for years since they have lore equipped now, but uh unfortunate. Non-wearable item drops, quest quest drops, keys, spell runes, those are going to be allocated to normal master looter. Normal loot will still still happen. Depending on the item in the loot tables, it will may also appear as personal loot. How long do I have to loot the personal items given to me. They will remain on the The items will remain available for 15 minutes, like until the corpse would normally unlock. When it unlocks, the unlooted items will be destroyed. Uh will everyone in the group see which items are looted as personally? No. Chat messages for looting, leaving, or or leaving personal loot items are only given to the person whose loot it is. So, when you get a nice item, people aren’t going to be going, “Oh, dude, dude, dude, dude, hook me up, hook me up.” You know, >> [laughter] >> Uh how many personal loot items are given for each NPC killed by a group? The amount of items given for each NPC kill is based on the size of the group when a NPC is killed. So, someone not in the group not in a group will receive not receive personal loot, right? So, solo player, no personal loot. A group of two or three people will receive one personal uh item per player. Right? >> [laughter] >> So, two or three people, uh one item per person. A large group, four to five people, will receive two personal loot items per person. A full six group of six will receive three personal items per person. The NPC will still drop its normal loot in addition to the personal items. Holy smokes. All right, so let’s let’s let’s lay this out. Like, so let’s say I’m I’m solo noob or god. I’m walking up to the Ifrit. I kill him. I’m not getting anything extra. But now I bring my friend Ailyn, and I bring my friend Axit. We got three people, right? We will each get two rolls at the items on the Ifrit, right? So, I could get boots, and I could get a ring, or I could get two boots, right? And then they’re going to get the same rolls on them, right? So, pretty interesting there. If you take it all the way to six people, you’re getting three items. Uh wait, I I I think I said that wrong. Uh the personal loot everybody gets one. I I see Yeah, I said that wrong. And then, you know, two for the four or five and six get three. Okay. Yeah, I said that wrong. But, it’s still this thing still is still it’s still crazy. Do mercenaries count as players? No. All right, so you have to box six. >> [laughter] >> You got to box six or you got to find six people. That’s uh pretty much how this works. Uh do you do the players need to be in the current zone where the loot is dropped? Yes, you have to be in the current zone. No off-line players count towards loot amounts. Will personal loot be given to players that are dead when the NPC is killed? As long as they’re still hovering over their body and they have not left the zone, they will be given personal loot items which they can loot when they return to the zone. How many personal loot items are given for each NPC killed by a raid? Raids only get personal loot in instance raid zones. Everyone in the raid gets one personal loot in addition to NPCs normal loot. Holy smokes. Holy smokes. That is crazy. Now, think about this. All right, you go kill an instance Avatar of War, right? And he drops, I think, four items normally or maybe maybe five. Uh so, those five items are going to be on the corpse or four items, whatever it is, right? But, every person in the raid, all 52 people, is going to get some kind of random item off the corpse. And that item is going to be even crazier here in a second when I tell you what else is going to go happen. All right, will personal loot be given to raids that aren’t using advanced loot? No, personal loot will only be given to master looter if it has advanced loot enabled. Will personal loot be randomized? Similar to Mischief Teek and Frost Reaver, personal loot is drawn not drawn from Rider my loot tables used on those servers. It’s drawn from the standard loot table. Can anything NPCs drop sweet amount of personal loot? It will depend on various factors for an item that can be given as personal loot. Items that the NPC was wearing or which was added to the corpse based on having a quest are unlikely be personal loot. Other items that are in the global to all NPCs or expansions are also unlikely to be given loot. So you’re not going to get like random trade skill crap. You’re going to get treasure, right? Are the loot items that will be excluded from personal loot uh are there loot items that will be excluded from personal loot? Um items with certain flags and quest temporary etc. The exclusion is handled at the treasure table level. Sometimes that will mean that the case where particular treasure table drops more than one item. We cannot block just one. So instead of the whole treasure it’s just the whole treasure table. NPCs can can and very well have to multiple treasure tables item lists offer them grouped with intention that treasure tables are different things and separate. For example, in a rare NPC might have a rare spell spell treasure table rare item treasure table all five spells on the treasure table are on the treasure table and both rare items are on another. So we can block the rare items and spells but not particular spell or the list on the particular spell on the list of spells. That said, key items are almost always on their own treasure table. So if desired, we could block them though it’s not guaranteed. Is personal loot affected by advanced loot filters? Uh yes, item filters will apply automatically to loot or leave item based on your filters. Oh my gosh. What happens if you your to your personal loot if you leave or get kicked from the raid, or group before you loot it, items can’t be looted once you no longer have access to the corpse. If you are added back to the group of the raid and the corpse unlocks, before it unlocks, you’ll be able to loot the items. Item changes. Well, this is This is where it gets crazy. All right, you can If you’re reading ahead, you you’ve already been spoiled. Uh que- will required items be removed entirely, or are they changed to recommended levels like some other servers? Required levels will be returned into recommended levels as seen on Frostfell, Fangbreaker, and Veeshan’s Peak. Does removing the required level also remove the item them from item click what does Does removing the required level on items also remove items from item clicks? Uh no, spells still retain their required level to cast. Okay, so like the breastplates require certain levels and stuff like that to click and stuff like that. So, that makes sense. Are epics all all? Yes. So, what I was saying item class race, deity, uh requirements are removed from all items on the server. Now, this is what is crazy about this. Um all the items are all all. This is so insane. Uh that means I can I can level say um let’s say I level a rogue and I go and do the warrior epic. Well, I can use warrior lightsabers on my rogue. I can use the wizard epic on my necromancer and I can use the enchanter epic for my bag to haste my pet. And I can And I can do the cleric epic. And I can res myself and anybody else. This is fundamentally a change to the game that is insane. I I think uh I think this is insane. Uh is the attunable flag for all items or just items acquired as personal loot? All tradeable items on the server that can be equipped regardless of their source will be assigned attunable. And will be attuned making them no trade the first time they are equipped. Does this mean the raid drops won’t come as attunable? The attunable flag will not override an item that is already no trade. Raid items that are tradeable will be given the attunable flag. So, there’s literally no reuse economy on this server, which is interesting, very interesting. Uh but you’re getting a lot more loot, so I don’t really think it matters too much. I mean, I think you’re going to be able to get Like if you think about it, you’re going to get into a raid and you’re going to be able to go and, you know, do a lot of stuff uh with you know, like a group of 54. Probably people are just going to be throwing people in raids to get them flag the gear. >> [laughter] >> Like I mean, that’s pretty much probably what’s going to happen. Uh so, tradeable equippable items are now attunable and no trade. Oh, yeah. Well, hold on. Does this mean the raid item uh raid drops won’t come as attunable? The attunable flag will not override, Uh so, tradeable equippable items are now attunable and no trade equippable otherwise are heirloom due to legacy character rule sets. That should be a question, I think. Yes, in addition to the to all the all In addition to all tradeable items that can be equipped getting the attunable flag, all items that are no drop and not but not know not but not free trade no drop or treated as heirloom due to the rates of the legacy character sets. So, uh I can take depending on how these epics work, right? Like like I don’t know if they’re no trade or what how that’s going to be. Uh so, you probably won’t be able to like give an epic to a level one. But, you can give like pretty much all the raid loot from like all the early expansions to a level one um without anything. And the level cap is 75, so at 75, I believe you’ll be able to uh But, here, let’s keep reading um before I say this. Uh what are the agents of change? Agent change uh they let you do instances. Uh pig zones are spawned instances when a certain amount of people enter a zone, right? Uh the server will not be true box. It’s going to be uh o- open box, if you will. Uh no PvP. It’ll be normal experience gain uh of live, which is faster than uh most things. Uh it will have disabled item level requirements. It will not be free trade. Uh will the server have mitigation mitigation of the mighty, right? So, mitigation of the mighty only cares about uh open expansions, right? So, uh original level request NPCs, so Nagafen, Yelinak, Vox. They’ll go Those go away at Gates of Discord, right? Ruins of Kunark uh mitigation mitigation of the mighty goes away at Dragons of Norrath and Scars of Velious goes away at Prophecy of Ro, right? So, let me check this real quick. EverQuest expansions in order. And stupid Google, you’re too slow for me. All right, so we are going to be in the Serpent’s Spine. So, right here, Prophecy of Ro is right before the Serpent’s Spine. So, there’s no mitigation of the mighty on any of the raid mobs in all the way to Velious, right? So, what is that What does that mean, right? So, you can hit level 75. You can go back in time. You can go back in time and you can kill all these raid bosses and you can farm up some low-level twink gear for your characters uh fairly quickly uh if you’re looking for that kind of stuff, right? Or sell raid items to uh to other people. So, uh definitely interesting uh in that case, but uh you know, well, I guess you can sell the items because they’re no trade, but you can sell the attunable ones. There are some attunable raid items in some of these raids, like the Blade of Carnage and stuff like that, so and definitely nice. And then, 12 weeks later, uh you’ll be able to do Shadows of Luclin. And then, uh my mitigation of mighty ends at Secrets of Faydwer, which is the next expansion, so that’s 12 20 weeks from release, you’ll be able to go and pretty much do uh no mitigation of mighty on all the old raids. All right, and will there be heroic 50 characters from the start? No, there’ll be a 3-month delay. All right, so this is looking pretty This is like I’m going to say I’m going to I’m going to say it. I don’t I I doubt anybody’s even watching this at uh what 17 minutes into a FAQ video, but I am I’m going to call this Lethar Daybreak Strikes Daybreak Strikes Back, right? Uh definitely uh trying to indict entice some players back, I think. Um I think that is a what they’re what they’re calling it cuz this is this sounds pretty cool. Uh I mean, think about it, right? I’m a necromancer. Now I can wear all warrior gear with more hit points. Um I can be a necromancer wearing, you know, two two uh warrior weapons, right? Like it’s all all. Right? So, you can do whatever you want and it definitely sounds interesting on every level. Uh I’ve already said that I I do plan on doing some kind of video series with this server, so that is uh kind of what I plan to do. Uh definitely uh I’m not going to announce what I plan to do until until I can reserve my name. Uh but we’re definitely going to do something on this server, I think. Uh I know I bailed on Frostriver and uh that’s cuz of Legends. And uh I I feel like we’re going to come back to Frostriver. I’m going to be doing something there. I’m going to start leveling a character. Uh that you know, finish leveling the one we had. Uh so, we’re ready for when we can, you know, overly twink it and uh all the achievements and stuff. But uh definitely interesting. I don’t know. What are your thoughts? Uh we you know, we found out some more information at like the the hanging comma was a really really strong thing if I remember what I said correctly. But uh all items are all all, which is crazy. That means, you know, like I can use the cleric epic from any of my classes to res people, right? I can use the monk epic on all my classes to uh have extra haste, right? Like uh imagine a warrior with a monk epic. I mean, what? I mean, this is this is just this gives the potential for so many interesting things and some difference differences, right? And uh you know, the Here, let’s go to let’s go to raid loot. Let’s look at Let’s look and see what the raid items look like in this expansion, right? So, uh where is the source? So, we’re going to go down to TSS. Where are you at? TSS and older. Let’s just go with the warrior and then breastplate. We can kind of get a like a gauge of what we’re what we’re doing here. Uh armor. Search. All right. So, this is the the top-tier item, right? So, 480 HP item, uh which is pretty good. And the clicky effect, which uh which is uh an extra 3,000 hit points. So, definitely uh definitely interesting there. Let’s say what the list with the lot weapon What a weapon would look like here. Let’s do a one-handed primary. All right. Lothar’s Final Stand in Ashengate. Uh let’s actually sort this by uh weapon ratio just because the default sort is HP, which could be misleading in some cases. Weapon ratio. There we go. Uh still It’s still number one. Look at that. So, this is a 175 lifetap weapon. 243 21 one-hander. Oh my god, that is nice. Uh let’s see what is this. Uh da da da. It’s another nice weapon. Another nice weapon. So, there’s definitely some good weapons. I know Lothar is definitely going to have some nice stuff there. Oh, yeah, and you can There’s the warrior epic 2.0 right there. Hate weapon. You can have that, right? You want to play a shadow knight and want more hate? Boom, you can use the warrior epic. Oh my gosh, the possibilities are endless uh with what you could do to cheese things in this server and get lots of experience. I don’t know. What do you think? So, uh let me know what you guys think about this. This sounds revolutionary um in terms of this game. Uh so, definitely uh I feel like it’s Daybreak striking back. Uh not Daybreak, Darkpaw cuz Darkpaw is the creator the guys who run this one and Daybreak owns them both, right? So, uh definitely uh sounds cool. I wish I wish them the best of luck. I’m going to try it. I’m definitely going to be playing something here. I don’t know what yet. I’m still trying to figure it out. But, uh yeah. So, uh any questions or comments, leave them down below. Thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
