The May 20th patch ships the test build plus a hotfix, and buried in the miscellaneous section is the change that matters most: an NPC on Vaniki and Frostreaver will lower your level on request. That removes the grim ritual of deliberately building corpse piles to get under a challenge achievement's level cap, a week before Frostreaver opens.

The Level Lowering NPC

Small note, large consequence.

  • On Vaniki and Frostreaver, an NPC will lower your level and put it back afterwards.
  • That replaces corpse piles. Meeting a challenge achievement's level cap previously meant dying on purpose, repeatedly.
  • It removes the need to park a low persona purely for challenge content, which is what I had been planning around.

What Shipped From Test

Plus a few additions.

  • Everything in the May test server notes carried across, including the hybrid and melee progressive rebuild.
  • Augments of the same lore group can no longer both be equipped.
  • Consuming Magic on group tier Necromancer robes from Shattering of Ro and raid tier from Outer Brood now works with spells up to 130.
  • Persona swapping is blocked while assigned to a Lost Dungeons of Norrath adventure, which I find odd.
  • Encounter locked NPCs now show who holds them when considered.

Crash and Client Fixes

An unusually long list.

  • DirectX 11 memory corruption causing random client crashes.
  • Hotbutton commands with very long arguments no longer crash the client.
  • Zone crashes in raid instances and in inventory item processing.
  • Mounts dying to an area effect too soon after being summoned.
  • An awkward camera bounce on certain mounts.
  • Borderless fullscreen behaves, and camping to server select in exclusive fullscreen no longer crashes on return.

The activated items keyring also gained partial stack handling, which I had not realised you could put potions in at all.

The Hotfix

One long standing annoyance.

  • Charms from Tides of Time were not working as intended.
  • I had been living with the symptom for months: charms and earrings randomly unequipping on every zone.
  • The Frostreaver starter pack was not actually on the store yet despite being in the notes, which I checked live on camera and called out.

The Short Version

  1. An NPC lowers your level on Vaniki and Frostreaver. No more corpse piles.
  2. Hybrid and melee progressive abilities rebuilt.
  3. Same lore group augments can no longer be double equipped.
  4. Necromancer robe Consuming Magic works to 130.
  5. A long list of client and zone crash fixes.
  6. Hotfix restored Tides of Time charms.

Hello and welcome to EverQuest game update notes for May 20, 2026. I’m actually doing this 2 days later cuz I’m lazy and I’ve had a lot of workers in my house in the last few days trying to fix some issues. So I am a good to go for the Frost River TLP, but we’re going to talk about patch notes, hot fixes, and some news in today’s video. So buckle up and get ready. So highlights of the patch, raid difficulty NPCs will now give a 2 and 1/2 minute instead of 5 minute out of combat timer. Not sure if I would mark that as a highlight, but it is a good change regardless. Items Bramble Fang and Short Spear of Resonant Fracture should now both now have their particle effects fixed an issue where free storage key ring items would count towards use slots. Fixed an issue where you could equip multiple augments of the same lore group equipped group. Created a new time lock progression starter pack for Frost Reaper. That is available when the server opens. All right, wait, hold on. Hold on. Shop packs There we go. No, this is this No, there is no new one. The website has not been updated. Lies. I guess it’ll open up next week on the 27th instead of today. During the patch. All right, consuming magic found on group tier necromancer robes from Shattered Row and raid tier necromancer robes from the Outer Brood should now correctly work with spells up to 130. That sounds like a buff to the uh the necromancer. All right, quests and events, Talon Gauntlets now Talon Gauntlets, Sprite, Tangle, those are all raids in the Shattering Roe. Uh I looked all those up, so. Uh adjusted the center point of the radius of the tether area. Uh see here, single target heals should now affect a good eggs. Uh the Spite Spite Tangle, fix an issue with the cracked achievement as a part of the fix. The prisons will now despawn when their health drops approximately 15%. Uh so, base zone mission and the raid, change the Spite zone geometry and the the pathing in the large open room of the sewers to reduce the instances of NPCs going under the floor. Uh what about NPCs coming down from above? That’s another issue. Uh hopefully that got resolved. Uh Echo of Hate raid, the wax oozes should cover more of the raid area. Its aura is also a larger radius. The Spiteful Machinations, the Labyrinth of Spite Dru Zymar, will now talk to all players regardless of the level, but will only grant this task, Spiteful Machinations, if 115 or higher. You can no longer swap to a higher level persona while assigned to a Lost Dungeons of Norrath adventure. Interesting. That’s very interesting there. I’m not 100% sure. Uh why? Uh I don’t know why you’d want to block that. I mean, if it’s higher level, I mean, who cares? Uh see here, spells, hybrid of the melee classes, adjusted existing progressive fix progressive abilities to fix three ways. They’d been falling behind in both content and other abilities. Rank one of of new ability is equal to rank six of the previous ability and all the ranks are upgrades. Uh we’re targeting June for casters and priests. All right. Uh so what this does I would assume for all the melee and hybrids is a buff the progressive ability. So your your rage, your uh whatever they’re all defensive ones and all that stuff. They all get They all get a Whatever the rank six is, that’s the starting ranks. So if you already maxed it all out, you’re going to double your power maybe. I don’t know. Beastlord, in addition to the larger group upgrades of fury added new boost to the pet critical melee damage and improves along with the amount of HP, mana, and endurance the line returns. Magician corrected the spell description for uh Dizel’s deafening decoy to properly reflect that it consumes malachite and not a peridot. Updated the achievements that the reciprocal progressive aligns from the outer brood use for advancement ranks. Advancement ranks two and three cannot be obtained by accomplishing Lorien’s Song and not Night of Shadows. The ranks from the achievements at a brood are unchanged. I This one I have no idea. So sounds like I can get rank two and three from doing Lorien’s Song achievements for something from the outer brood. I don’t know. Um it’s something. Um you know, we’ll have to get in game and see uh uh next time we do that. So NPCs, raid difficulty NPCs will now give a two and a half minute timer instead of five. Considering an encounter lock NPC will show who it’s locked to. Um Oh, so this was This was something they had a separate post for and we didn’t con- I can about it in the uh test server notes, but implemented a method for players to lower their level on Vaniki and Frost River, so they do not have to come do do have to come create a corpse piles to lower their level to meet challenges. Uh so, all you do is you like talk to this dude, he’ll lower you down, and he can bring you back up. It is like the coolest thing ever, and I’m so glad they did it. Uh I was really like I was like in you know, trying to plan it out where I could have like a persona that I would you know, keep it lower level uh to do challenges and stuff, but uh hopefully uh it’s not necessary when we do uh Frost River next week. So, that’ll be fun. Uh miscellaneous. Typos were fixed in the components and collections. Items for Clause of Vision achievement, altered Velium, fixed DirectX 11 memory corruption that caused random client crashes using the {{}slash} hotbar command or hot button command, I mean. Will uh with a very long argument will no longer crash the client. Fixed a zone crash that would occur in raid instances. Fixed a zone crash involving memory inventory item processing. Fixed an issue where mounts could die if hit by an area of effects too soon after being summoned. Fixed an awkward camera bounce on certain mounts. Partial item stacks cannot be combined in the activated um activated items keyring by uh picking up and placing on to another. Now, I didn’t know this was a thing, but apparently it is a thing. You can put potions in your activated items keyring and uh stuff like that, so it’s pretty sweet. Uh less things in the bags. Uh depositing stackable items in the activated item ring will attempt to fill any partial stacks in the keyring uh if it’s full, right? Cuz like potions only stack like 10 or something like that, so. Uh pretty nice. Uh the borderless full screen checkbox in the options the window now behaves itself mitigated a crash when reentering the world after camping to server select while full screen exclusive mode. And previously updated fixed an event scheduling that prevented a tempest festival. All right, so that that’s the patch that went out and then they had to do a hot fix uh shortly thereafter. Uh see here, fixed an issue that was uh preventing charms from the tides of time from working as intended. I I have all my like for the last like 2 3 months all my charms uh and earrings from the tides of time have just like been randomly unequipping from my characters every time I zone. So hopefully that fixes it. I like haven’t logged on to see uh but definitely hopefully it does. Uh see here, progression servers fix an issue that would not offer uh all available level decreases when speaking to the priest of discord. Uh worn equipment will no longer be placed in bags if the associated item within expansion has not been launched on the server. What? Worn equipment will no longer be placed in bags if the item is associated with an expansion that has not been fully launched on the server. All right, well. Whatever that means. And then uh right now we’re doing uh Memorial Day bonuses, so that started uh today in fact. Uh so from today uh until the 26th 50% experience bonus, 50% faction bonus, 50% rare spawn chance bonus 20% discount on uh purchases for from the shop. And then they unvaulted a bunch of familiars, so you can see these familiars. I guess those are familiars, right? Yeah, I guess you get these familiars. I don’t know. I don’t I don’t know why I really wouldn’t want one of those following me around. Um Inora, the seer, then we got a bear, a cat, and a wolf. Yeah, some things there. And then we got uh Oh my gosh, a gnome. Oh my gosh, a fay touched gnome. Look at that guy. Oh my gosh. Oh my god. I All right. And then we got uh an ant, a lion, a satyr, and a fairy. So, there you go. There’s that. Uh also, in other news, the uh the I think Darkpaw. I’m going to go with Darkpaw. The studio is hiring. Uh the newest uh So, here we go. Hold on. Hold on. Let me read Let me read it. Uh we’d like to introduce the newest studio under Enad Global 7 umbrella, Ravenwake Games, is a Vancouver-based studio. Uh see here. Hire remotely from British Columbia, Canada. So, that means they can hire Canadians. Uh if you ever want to help EverQuest, there’s no much better opportunity to become a member of the team right now. Send your resumes and professional experience. So, let’s see here. Associate software engineer. And See here. Remote locations, CA, Washington, Texas, Massachusetts, and New York. And then uh see here, game systems software engineer and this one. All right. Let’s look at this. I see associate So, 40 to 60,000 in California. Oof. That is That is uh that’s pretty low. Do you get to use claw the whole time? I mean, come on. It’s just That is too low uh of a salary. And the same one here. Yeah, pretty low salary there. Um you know, not to not to talk smack, but I mean it is definitely a pretty low salary uh for, you know, writing C++ all day long, right? Like I mean, I mean, if it’s like an AI assistant job, I could see it being that low. But uh definitely uh ouch. All right, so they’re hiring. Uh if you’re looking for a job, uh I know a lot of people have been laid off in the recent times due to AI. So, uh definitely uh might be a chance here to go work at uh at work for EverQuest and maybe uh remove summoning from the game and become my the person I would worship, if you remove summoning from the game. I will make a video dedicated to how awesome you are. Uh but uh there we go. So, that is it. That’s the game update notes and some extra news uh for the game. So, uh hopefully out there. I should be on playing uh getting some uh experience. The bonus ends right before right before the next uh TLP launches. So, uh should be fun there. I do plan on playing Frost River uh the 27th and the 28th like until I pass out. So, like as soon as the servers are up, pass out. I know some of the other streamers for the game are doing some uh some kind of thing. And so, I might be in with them doing some stuff when I’m streaming. I don’t know how it’ll all work out. Um biggest thing is I got to get my name onto the right account. Uh and then I’ll I’ll worry about it from there. But uh definitely uh uh you know, there and there’ll be there’ll be new bags. You’ll be able to buy a new bag. Uh and I highly recommend this House of Thule one. I mean, this is like a really good purchase, like value-wise, cuz they’re all 999 claims, right? You can get a you know, about a 20-slot, 16-slot. Um it’s definitely uh definitely I I claim those on every server I go to, so there you go. Uh thank you very much for watching, and please have a fantastic day.
